Encouragement Along the Way

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Waiting on the Lord

Posted in Prayers

Nothing is harder for me than "waiting". I have spent a life time waiting. We waited for orders. We waited to move. We waited for housing. We waited for fellowship. We have waited and waited for direction. And once all those things are in place we began waiting again.

I am not good at waiting, but Mike is excellent at it. I always have a fix, always have an answer  and always have a prayer. He has patience like no one else I know. He knows his calling, He knows what God wants him to do, but he is adamant about God's timing. 'Where God Guides, God provides." is a standard Calvary Chapel platform although few follow it. Mike follows it to the letter. If God is not in it , it will fail. If God wants it to happen it will; God's way, God's time. Mike needs only to be available. And he is.

In the meantime, I am like Viroqua in Willie Wonka. "I don't care how, I want it now!" she sings and so does my heart. I live in the woods, in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s. I have firs and cedars in my yard. Thankfully in this heat I have a canopy of mighty oaks over our air condition-less home. And I live in a spiritual desert! There is no spiritual growth, salvation is a weekly occurrence instead of a life changing experience among the adults. I live in a spiritual desert with an oasis. Praise God for the Oasis!

The Oasis is because my son in law and my daughter pour out amazing grace and love on a handful of teen-agers. You might not see it if you hadn't been there at the beginning. In the beginning the teens came into youth group stoned and drunk. Not a few, all of them. A 13 year old almost died of alcohol poisoning. 85% have been molested. This is a foreign culture group to a homeschool girl that experienced her first kiss after her pastor said "you may now kiss the bride." So when a 16 year old comes in and asks, "is it okay if I sell drugs and not use them?" and six months later he comes in and announces he has a legit job! Hey lives are changing. This is a town where the newspaper talks often about the High School drug problem, which is "All their parents are stoned!" This is a tough mission field. And they now come sober enough to hear God's word. That is change.

So why am I complaining.....because I want God to begin transforming this desert for the grown-ups. I need God to speak to Mike so loudly, God knows we have to have our orders because He knows Mike. Mike is used to having his orders handed to him. Well, I need you to pray God shows me He is directing Mike so I can be at peace waiting. Silly yes, but so needed.

17 "The poor and needy search for water,
       but there is none;
       their tongues are parched with thirst.
       But I the LORD will answer them;
       I, the God of
Israel, will not forsake them.

  I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
       and springs within the valleys.
       I will turn the desert into pools of water,
       and the parched ground into springs.
18

  I will put in the desert
       the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
       I will set pines in the wasteland,
       the fir and the cypress together,
19

  so that people may see and know,
       may consider and understand,
       that the hand of the LORD has done this,
       that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Jul. 29, 2006 - Me too!

Posted by friends4tea

Hello!

Thanks for taking a look at my bathroom! I'll have more pictures as we go. I'd love to see pictures of your renovations too!

This post is so true! I hate waiting for anything. I started a special diet for my joint pain this week and I really dislike it. It tastes awful and I see no results! But the doctor said it would take 3 or more weeks. I want it to fix me now. I don't want to wait any longer! I'm sure God is probably trying to teach me to be patient and be diligent, but I don't like it! =)

I hope you have a great weekend.
Leah

About Me

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. This blog is a homeschooling devotional from a bubbe's point of view or watching the next generation excel where I only succeeded.
