Each week around the world there is a specific portion of Torah read. Torah is the first five books of the Bible; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. This week it was the Story of Noah enduring the storm and sending out the dove. I love reading about Noah.
Whenever I get tagged to answer the question” who would you like to sit down with (living or dead) and talk with, my answer is always Mrs. Noah. This is the woman I think has all the answers a wife's heart has to ask. If she had been angry like Job's wife "Curse God and die" or if she had been Sarah laughing at God, we would probably know her name. There are suggestions of her name in writings other than scripture,
She causes my heart to wonder. What would I say if my husband came home one day and said, "God was talking to me today and I am going to build and
I also wonder how she handled the criticism of her husband. I can handle so many things, but when it comes to my Beloved, criticism of his character is not one of them. Thankfully I have heard little of that in his lifetime. But don't you wish she had a chapter in the Bible that tells you what to say when your husband comes home and says "we are moving." or "I think we need to buy a larger car." Or a line or two about how to respond when he tells you that he is waiting on the Lord to direct him on what to do next.
Do you thing Noah inquired of his wife? He did hear from the Lord of the Universe; but do you thing he asked his bride,” What do you think, honey?" Did he say,” I know this won't be easy, but the Lord will direct us and the boys will help out.?"
See why I love the thought of her? Pondering on her causes me to check my heart and trust the heart of my husband. I guess that is why we live where we live. And why we worship as we worship. My Beloved does hear His Father and is better at following directions than I am. I tend to rush ahead, pre-plan what God desires and add in my own two-cents, etc. Did Mrs. Noah keep busy with schedules and charts or did she just trust Noah?
When the last stroke of the hammer fell, they were ready. I hope to be ready when the time comes as well. No matter the task or the plan, I choose to follow his leading.
