My heart is breaking today. My husband was a pastor in Colorado Springs for five years. He sat down at Pastors' meetings monthly with Pastor Ted. He also listened to people come into church and say, "I haven't been to church in Ten years, not since Pastor ----- fell and took off with his secretary." That fall ultimately cost him the life of his son who committed suicide because of the disgrace. The Church finally recovered from that and then another Pastor left saying God was calling him else where only to go to another church and reveal his relationsip with someone else. I guess that protected the old church from a church spilt and the public disgrace Ted is now facing. How broken hearted is our God? And how familiar is this pattern of behavior. King David knew it well. There was deadly Collateral Damage in that incident as well. And the Nation paid for it with many lives. Selfishness does not consider who will pay for their actions. Pride does not see the consequences until they arrive.
Do you pray for your Pastor? He is a man vulnerable to the world and walks around with a target on his back for every fiery dart the enemy can imagine. And as you can see, he imagines a lot of them. Do you pray for his wife, she has to give up her husband to so many needs of the flock and care for her family? And she is a Christian whose pastor is also her husband. That isn't easy. DO you pray for their children? PK's are under such a microscope. And are tauntly mercilessly when their dad falls. PLEASE pray for Ted's Children, for his wife, for the church and for him. Collateral Damage is about to hit Colorado Springs. Pray for your pastor and tell him thank you for loving his wife and being faithful to her for your churches sake.
"Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?" ' 11 Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Ezekeial 33:10-11
