Have you ever been afraid of a book? This week I conquered that fear! For years now, my daughter Heather Lee, has wanted me to read a book. For years I have said...not now! She has bought four copies of this book because every time she loans it, it doesn't find its way home. It is passed from woman to woman. Last week she bought it again and handed it to me. It was time. I knew it was time. I had told her it was time, and she didn't have it any more. So she went out and bought it.
How powerful it is. How heart wrenching and Holy Spirit inspired it is. How thankful I am to have a daughter that listens to Jesus, and makes sure she follows His leading. A work of fiction can make your truth come alive. And that is what this book did. I love Francine Rivers and have read so many of her books. Until this week, Leota's Garden was my favorite. It is about family relationships (great reading to prepare for holiday family gatherings). But now, my favorite is The Atonement Child. I have been so blessed through the pages of this book. My heart has been stirred and the dross surfaced so my loving Savior could reach down and skim it off. There is always dross to skim off.
When I began this blog, Abortion as a topic in Homeschooling circles was never my intention.(Thanks Scott!) But if statistics are true, 40% of the women in church with you have experienced this pain first hand. Countless others experience it second hand like cigarette smoke. So if you are in either of those categories. Don't wait six years and four copies later to read this book. The Atonement Child does exactly what the Title says it will do. There is not a circumstance or argument that this work does not cover. And there is not a heart it won't touch in the most unexpected places.
If Encouragement Along the Way is the Title of My book and my blog, Than perhaps that is what this post will do, Encourage You. If you are the Mother of teen-agers, this book should be mandatory reading for them. Have courage and be blessed. There is no fear in Christ and He is all over this one. From Generation to Generation....
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
