My Pastor Bob?
Posted in Bible Study
Something amazing happened yesterday! Our Anouncement maker at the Women's Bible Study, Karen, announced that it was going to be her dad's 75th birthday today. Then she asked the women, how many people remember Pastor Bob? Pastor Bob? Her Dad? Really? I could not believe it! Now I never knew Pastor Bob's last name, so I was never able to locate him, especially because we spent 20 years on the East Coast and he was here in Mike's Hometown. I didn't know how long he pastored here, since the day he changed my life was the day the Senior Pastor had left for Australia for a year. For all this new believer new Pastor's traded places all the time. But now all of a sudden I had a last name, a family member I could get an address from and a letter to write.
You see, the day I walked into Pastor Bob's office over 27 years ago,was the day my husband had finally used the "D" word asking me to go ahead and file. Well, Pastor Bob was so filled with the Spirit of the Lord and had so much wisdom for this very young mom, as I was only a Christian for a couple of years. He shared scripture after scripture with me in such a way that I could share them with Mike. Mike and I ran up a $400.00 phone bill that night, but it saved our marriage. Soon after my meeting with Pastor Bob I was with my husband again, we had been apart for 9 months.
I wanted him to know we were still passionately in love and to know Mike had givien his heart to the Lord and had even become a pastor. So the amazing hour in his office had totally saved my marriage and eventually Mike's soul! And NOW I CAN TELL HIM SO!!!!!!!!!
How totally awesome is Our GOD!
Glorify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name together! Ps 34: 3

What an amazing testimony. My marriage was in trouble a few times as well, though we never actually separated, my husband would go for days without talking to me. I've had help from a couple of pastors and today we are very strong. He's going on a mission trip with our two oldest in July ~ this is an amazing step of faith for him.

That is an incredible story and one of the many neat things that God does for us. I just happened by your blog (doing a random blog search) and when I saw that you were a friend of my dear friend (friends4tea) I just had to comment!
I've had some issues with the blogger changes as well~ but you CAN still get e-mail notifications. If you haven't figured that out yet, let me know and I'll help you (that was one of my complaints as well).
Nice to meet you,
Heidi

Feb. 2, 2007 - glorifying with my friend!

What a cool story...He is just good, isn't He? In the short time we have been blogging one another, I have grown to appreciate your wisdom and friendship greatly! I just wanted you to know that. I seem to have issues with women no matter where I live, which I have grown to accept, but it still can make me sad...maybe I've found the answer in blogging! :) just kidding. I realize the Lord uses the situation to build character in me. You are right about the boys ability to accept change and they do have each other. They are best friends and I am so glad God was faithful to surprise us with our second when my first was only four months old. At the time we were homeless and laughed--how are we going to do this? Through the years we've often noted the Lord's perfect plan to give our boys each other. I guess that's why this time seems a little harder to consider a big move...they have always had such a great attitude about change or not having money or such...that my heart just wants to bless them. But...you are so right. Chris has had an incredibly hard life since birth and he has an amazing testimony and gift. It is definitely time for him to follow his dreams and let God take care of the boys, I know His blessings are so much greater. Like Chris said, "it almost seems to good to be true that the Lord would just let me wholeheartedly follow my passions and dreams" of course he knows the answer to that mentally, but after years of abandonment, abuse, failure and finally acceptance of God's good and perfect will to continually break him.....I think it is hard for him to grasp in his heart. We did live in Kentucky for a short period and their homeschool laws are very lenient, but we are not leaning in that direction. I guess we will have to just wait upon the Lord and see what happens. Right now we are seeking first His kingdom and righteousness...He will do the rest. I do however love, love the encouragement from my fellow blogger friends. We have now also been offered a worship leader position at a large church in Knoxville, Tn. --close to our honeymoon destination and favorite family spot Gatlinburg. :) and most recently (half an hour ago) a worship leader position at a large Calvary Chapel in Salt Lake City, UT -- I guess I should be excited that this time we do not have to choose out of need or desperation, but can look at all of the blessings God is offering us.

Feb. 2, 2007 - GOD IS GREAT

That is a truly amazing & touching story you shared! Thank You! Isn't God great..how he opens doors & opportunities everyday & ALL for good things!
Back about 3 years ago my hubby & me had alot of various problems & we both were thinkng & talking about the D word. After our "D" talk, & some quiet time apart to cool off & actually think, & pray...., We talked, for hours about things we hadn't talked about in a Very, very long time, we laughed, we cried, & actually listened to each other. By the end of the night (sleep deprived from crying & talking sooo much) We BOTH came to realize just how much we did love & need each other. & How blessed we truly were. Thank God he made us realize what we almost threw away... & how selfish & petty the reasons for almost giving up on our marriage! It was like God sending a great wake up call to both of us at the same time! Our marriage has been stronger since.. of course with the typical ups & downs but nothing we couldn't see through with God's help!
We are so thankful to God for all that he has blessed us with & all he reveals to us each day! Thank You for the uplifting story & reminder of how God can fix & heal ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God Bless You :)

God is definately working in mysterious ways here :)
Chris was saved at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, and we met there while both enrolled in the first year of the extension Bible college (specifically at a valentine's day ho down for the church singles in 1993) but...the really funny thing is....after a two year internship at Calvary Chapel of Evansville, In. we were asked to start a Bible study on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder. We lived in Westminster from 1996-1999 and traveled every Sunday (our study was on a different day) to our favorite Calvary in the area (we tried quite a few!) which was in Colorado Springs---we loved the city, and enjoyed getting to spend the day there once a week sightseeing at Garden of the Gods, The navigators ect.. and spent our last vacation/conference last year at Bear Trap Ranch ---an awesome time of rest (teaching also, but that made it free, so we weren't complaining!) Isn't the Lord's sense of humor great sometimes? Thanks for making me smile :)
In His bond,
Angelle

I love stories like that! God is good to allow you to thank Pastor Bob and i am sure it will bless him tremendously at just the right time.
To answer your question on my blog....my husband and second son are allergic to chicken eggs. We're thinking about trying duck egg to see if they can handle it. We can do vaccinations, but in small doses with the EpiPen ready and stay in the dr. office for a long time. It's nerve-wracking. We don't do flu shots for them. It's just not worth it.
Their egg allergies aren't nearly as scary as the nut and peanut allergies in Ethan and Jon, though.
Did you know they have developed a treatment to de-sensitize the body to egg allergies? We just missed being in the study group for that. It's not widely used yet. They are going to try it with peanut next and i hope to get in that group as his allergy is life-threatening. This way we wouldn't have to worry so much about accidental ingestion and death as it would build up a tolerance in his system.
