Missionary week and an eleven year old's heart for Africa
Posted in Tirzah hsp missions
It is Missionary week at church and Tirzah is just bent on going to Africa. She has been set on this since she was eight. Her mother was the same way although I prayed SHE would go to Africa because she wanted to go be a missionary in New York and I knew that Africa was safer. So today's missionary's five year old daughter was sharing about her best friend who was three, and that she had died, and how she is looking forward to making a new friend when they return although she misses her friend very much.
She also shared about how much she likes to eat termites.
Her dad showed a giant Python skin and talked about spiders the size of his hand.(This part made me think of Leah) And after all that, she still wants to go and is now praying God will help her learn to eat scary things! She is such a trip. She has such a burden for aids orphans and really longs to be there.
Until today, I hadn't seen how deep this call is in her little 11 year old heart. Until today I also hadn't realized that God is going to have to do the miraculous and touch her body, because with her HSP kidney disease, they won't let her go. I am a firm believer that The Lord doesn't lay His desires on your heart unless He intends to bring them to pass. Heatherly never did go to New York, but she did go to Israel, Estonia, Moscow, Czechoslovakia, and so many others. She also was going to Ghana when the Lord sent her to find her husband instead.
I know God can change "your" plan to "His" plan. He has done this all my life. I know He will do the same for Tirzah. But today as I watch my granddaughter ask the Lord to help her eat crawly things when she won't even eat sauces on regular food, I know her heart is searching, seeking to grow and desiring to serve; Even to the point of Pythons and termites!
Yesterday Tirzah was at the rheumatologist confirming that her joint pain is HSP related and not something else. It is just her HSP. In doing that we also discovered her HSP can also affect her eyesight so she has to go to an ophthalmologist. More reasons to pray, more opportunities for God to move.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3

Its funny to see how God's leadings will lead us. I always wanted to be a missionary. I also had a hard time learning a second language. I remember praying to the Lord to lead me to a country that spoke English. Thinking he might lead me to Australia. (0= lol. But I met my sweetie in 1989 when I was 20y'so and I have been serving the Lord in Canada for almost 17 years now. I do pray for God to give the desires of your dgd for Africa. Psalms 20 I also give to her . If you would pass that on to her . I remember praying for what seemed to be the impossible and the Lord gave me that chapter.
God Bless my SSiC

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
The mission field is exciting, interesting, challenging, and at times, heart breaking...praying that God equips this youngster for all that He would call her to...Africa or otherwise!

It's so much fun to see them growing and loving the Lord so much. My oldest boy wants to be a missionary, too, but he is inclined toward China. We use this often as a tactic to get him to eat different foods! Funny thing is, he really doesn't like Chinese food at all. Or Mexican, (Sigh, i'm not sure how he is my child sometimes....i have salsa running in my veins). He'd probably do better eating worms.
Tell Tirzah worms aren't so bad...i ate one as a kid (on purpose) and lived to tell about it!

What a courageous little granddaughter you have there! Wow! I'd need a lot of courage to eat those scarey things ~ I need a lot of courage just to look at them! LOL!
My mom is working on getting her blog set up. You can get to it by clicking in my sidebar on Bible Study Buddies. =)
Hugs,
Leah
