Since it is Missionary week at church that is my question for today. Who has your heart? In my life the term Africa has always been the place to go. I remember when our church sent us to summer camp when I was 12 years old. By the time I came home I knew what I wanted to be when i grew up. I wanted to be a Missionary and a writer. I knew I had always wanted to be a writer so I figured I would put the two together and write about being a missionary. I just figured that meant Africa. (Teen age rebellion soon took over and I didn't give my heart to Jesus completely until I was 21 years old. By then I was a mother of a newborn and a two year old living in Italy. Now most people do not have to Leave America to get saved, but God knew I did. So on a very small Italian Air Force Base, too small to even qualify us for a Chaplin, God sent me a neighbor, my ONLY American Neighbor. She just happened to be a baby Christian and YOU KNOW what THEY can be like! We managed to find a Missionary a couple hours away that took the train up twice a month so we could have church services in the Multi-purpose room off the Bar. My daughter still thinks "Jesus loves me" every time she smells beer! I am sure our Missionary Paul had thought "Africa" at on time too. But God knew there was a young woman in Italy that need Jesus.
Back to my desires at twelve....did you know that one of the largest mission fields is the U.S. Military? Every base God sent us to, had a young woman just like me in need of Jesus. It wasn't Africa, but the need was great. God would turn my heart to Homeschooling and further define my Mission field. My children and my husband are a mission field and the Lord added as He saw fit.
Heatherly may have wanted Africa, but God sent her to Israel and Russia. Matthew did the Military thing like his father after a while at Bible College and He gave his Missions money to his sister since only one could go. God had His hand in this as well since that is when she met her husband. When the babies started to come she would cry about not being on the Mission Field. So God brought them to her. Her husband brought home unreached people groups right out of the 10/40 window from work. Did you know God will bring the lost right to your doorstep and sit them around your table?
My sister was a Bible Smuggler with Brother Andrew in China, she loves China and a missionary to places that do not allow missionaries. Her husband’s heart is for the Jewish people, he is from Bolivia. Do you know there are Spanish speaking Jews in Israel? Do you know there are Chinese people in Israel? It may not be The mission you have in mind, but it is in God’s Heart.
Our Missionary to Africa ministers to a 95% Islamic population. That also did not fit into my “Being A Missionary to Africa” mind set. So where is your heart? Are you longing to touch the world in mighty ways outside of your homeschool?

Mar. 17, 2007 - My unexpected Mission Field
I never imagined to be here in Canada. I really believe that God is preparing this House That God Built to be something that is connected to His plan. Maybe to minister to my inlaws and who knows who else. Thank you for this post. It really shows what is possible if we let God lead us to who he wants to.
God Bless my very SSiC

Wow, that's neat. My husband's brother is a missionary in China too. He's working as a teacher and does different things around that.
