I
I wrote a really awesome account of our day yesterday, went to publish it and BAM...it was gone. Just like that! Today is a new day and I shall try again.
Yesterday was our AWANA GrandPrix Pinewood Derby. All six of Heatherly's kids had a car and the Lord was VERY gracious in arranging the heats in such a manner that siblings did not have to race against each other! Go God! We had a couple second places and then they switched a few rules (it was there first one pinewood derby and lots of chief indians) and after two hours of racing four cars at a time, the grand champion was decided. #34! Well, none of us were number 34 although a lot of our cars had #34 on them because that is their Great Grandpa's National Dragster Record breaking number on his car. And the MC even asked Great grandpa, the professional, to start the race! That was very exciting for the kids and for Great Grandpa.
We had hoped the odds were with us and atleast one of the grandkids would have one something, but it was not to be. Next year we will get the weight ratio down pat! Tirzah had hoped her little mouse car would have been unique enough to win a prize, but the Shark beat her out. The boys may be different as night and day, but when it came to chosing car shapes, they were almost exact. The colors and the decals made the difference, and they were so excited and so happy to get their participation ribbons! Kezziah has a lot of her Great Grandpa in her and designed her car sleek and powerful, next year we will add and engine block. And Zemeira will long be remembered as the neon pink roadster that was so fast her wheels couldn't keep up! Half way down the track her wheel fell off!
Hers had the best chance of winning. "Pa" always says, make she you make a memorie, And Zemeira did just that! And lastly there was Talia and her car. Now, her car couldn't race because she is only 17 months old and can't even be a Cubbie yet! But the one thing we discovered over the last two weeks is .....If you give a 17 month old a piece of sandpaper and a block of wood, she will sand til the cows come home!
We enjoyed the kool-aid and cookies, had a short lesson on not everyone wins and winning isn't everything. And came home to play with our cars that they had made themselves with their grandpa. And that was what this was really all about!
I will post pictures when they come off the camera!
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
