I received a call yesterday, I let it go to the answering machine, because I did not recognise the caller's name.
Sidebar...I love caller ID , we were a test family in Florida for it when it first came out and I loved saying Hi so and so before they said hello. They would say How did you know it was me, and I would say The Holy Spirit told me and giggle!
Back to the tale... It turned out it was a woman from the Bible Studies ministry and she said my name was turned in as a possible Asst. Bible Study teacher. I am so glad the answering machine picked it up, because I needed to pray! That was not a yes they would get easily from me. First I prayed, next I hollered to my husband and sought his wisdom and after that I I.M.-ed my daughter.....
You see, I am completing, in the next two weeks, the first Bible Study I have gone to that I haven't been the teacher for in over 20 years. And I liked it. I started teaching Women's Studies at 24 years old, I took a couple years off to figure out the balance of Homeschooling and began teaching studies again because...I LOVE IT! I stopped when the Lord literally set me on my back for a year, Not too mention the pity party I was having at the time.
I knew God was up to something last week when a woman came in and asked "why women go to Bible Studies" and my heart re-ignited with a flood of reasons. Yes I was surprised to hear not everyone loves them like I do. Really it surprised me, I can't imagine anything better than sharing the Word of God and a cup of tea with Women I love and babies at my feet. (no this is a church study and it won't be that relaxed.) But they DO have Bible Study classes for the homeschooled children at the same time, which I love since I think homeschooling moms need fellowship as much as women that work outside the home do. Churches quickly recognized that need and began evening Bible Studies for them. This has not caught on as easily.
Back to what the Lord is doing. I love that I was asked to assist. We haven't been involved in this church long and I think it is hapless when churches just grab any willing body to do any given job. I believe you must sit under the teaching of a pastor for atleast six months just to make sure you are like-minded before you volunteer and start with the small things. Anyway, I opened my new devotional, the one my daughter just bought me and the verse was "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much."..Luke 16:10
Yes, I said yes. When she asked what subject I preferred or person I chose to teach with, I said, "Wherever the Lord needs me." I figure if He wants me here, He knows where He wants me. And that need is usually for my growth!
Please pray for me, this is not something I do lightly. It had to be with Mike's approval and it had to be confirmed by the Lord. It was when Toni called out of the blue and reminded me of the years we spent in study together and how excited she is now to be the older woman she was terrified of becoming. She doesn't even know what I am considering; it was just a natural flow to our conversation. So here I am in need of prayer. If you think about it, in September (yes it is a ways away) I will be assisting in class I do not know probably with women I do not know for a God I know intimately.
