You never know where a conversation may take you.....

Yesterday while driving home from Bible Study...new fact you do not know about me, I do not drive, don't know how, don't want to learn. So as I was actually riding home from Bible study with my daughter, Heather, and her six children. They began discussing my birthday and of course how OLD Bubbe is going to be.
One brillant child says "So Bubbe you won't be fifty any more?"
"No, I won't" I respond.
Chai in the far back of the van says" Does that mean you will be 5.1!"
Response.."Woo Hoo! I get a new Operating system!"
I was running 5.0 but Today I am running 5.1!
Now, you need to know that on my fiftith birthday may grandchildren cut off all the zeros on the fifty confetti, because everyone knows Bubbe is five years old and always will be and Pa is perpetually 17. So in all reality 5.1 does make more sense.
So in honor of my 5.1 birthday (and every family birthday) we took the day off. We figure if you can celebrate a President's birthday that you never met, than Family Birthdays must also be treated as a holiday. The so honored birthday person is not allowed to work on their birthday which is a present I love. No folding laundry, no doing dishes, no scrubbing toilets!
My favorite part of today so far was having my grandchildren sit in a circle and pray the sweetest prayers for Especially Heather. Their little hearts knew exactly how Heather's children would pray for their mama and they did so with a tenderness that blessed my soul. My favorite prayer went something like this "Jesus, may Elijah's mommie live as long as our mommie" and "Make their mommie stay a good mommie, a really really good mommie."
Yep Birthdays don't come any better than this! Now I am off to see "Amazing Grace" with my beloved.
Continuing to lift up Heather and TC .

I like that 5.1 idea! Your grandkids sound so sweet. I have no doubts that they are adorable.
Last night we had a big group of people over for dinner. We started talking about how old everyone was and realized I was the oldest!! It is so weird...my husband and I have been the youngest for so long..the young couple at bibe school, the young intern - now I am the oldest! What?! (Yes I am older than my husbnd too!)
Hope you are having a good day. I appreciate the update on Heather too and will say a prayer for her.

Well, Happy Birthday! That's too funny about being version 5.1.
How wonderful that your grandchildren are learning compassion for others that they have never met.
Thanks for being so faithful to leave comments. It's always nice to get one.

I love it, 5.1, that is.
Happy Birthday to you, dear one! It is so fabulous that you get to be close with your sweet family and spend an extraordinary day with them.
BTW, how was the movie? I'm so wanting to see it.
Is it appropriate for young ones (10, 7, and 3 1/2)?

LOL, 5.1! I like that. Mr. TC turned 4.8 on the same day as your birthday. We had homemade carrot cake; hope you had something yummy!
Thanks for your prayers. :)
