Show and Tell
Canadagirl is sponsering a Show and Tell Friday. Go to her blog for a list of participants. We are having fun sharing with each other.
My show and tell this week is our livingroom. 18 months ago we bought our first home and have been fixing it ever since. Last week I finally found the color I needed to finish our livingroom. In the fal when we put in the wood flooring I painted the hallway and one wall in the living room an Arizona Southwestern tan color (it turned out a little pinky-er than I wanted.) So finding the right color to balance it out has been a challenge. The color I was looking for is the rusty red in the flowers on our couch.

This is what we did this week. Now to tackle the hideous wall paper!

I think you found that color in the couch you were wanting to match. Red is a hard color to paint. Did you have to use a lot of paint or just use a base coat? Red is so pretty!

Oh! I love color... you did a great job. I have always been afraid to do anything close to red because I worry about getting the color even.
Your room looks great ~ and that hutch is gorgeous!

I do love my hutch. It was a steal...really, there was this divorce sale and we got it for 200-250 . Everyone said it would be to big for my house but I just had to have it.
The red actually covered very well. It is just one coat with touch ups . The wall is textured, so some shading happens but it gives it a very Tuscan Terra cotta feel.
Matching the red in the couch was really difficult. I was always bringing home paint chips and holding it up to the couch.
Finally I just walked in grabbed a chip, toldMike Paint was on sale for 15.99 a galloon and said I want this one!
And It was perfect!
I am so glad you all like it.It was a scary thing to do. I am not that bold when it comes to colors.

Oh the joys of remoldeling. I can relate all to well. We bought an old farm house that sat empty for 7 years. Well, not quite empty....there were the crows, & mice carcuses lying here and there. Then you had signs of squirels and racoons. YUCK! I wish you all the best. Looking good so far!
Blessings,
Lori

I love the color!
I'm decorating challenged! My signature decorating accent is crooked pictures...and unfortunately, my hubby has an eye for "straight"!

Hi Bobbie,
Three of my girls like Felicity. We have not seen the videos -- we have no TV :o) and no VHS player :o( But I recently ordered the complete set of Moody science videos, so somehow we are going to have to find one to use! My kids have not read all of the American Girls. I know one has spiritism in it (Kayla), and I don't like one of the girls' independent, I-know-more-than-the-grownups-in-my-life attitude... just not a good role model. Unfortunately it is impossible now for me to pre-read everything my kids check out...
I am still waiting for your living room photos to load, sigh...
