Encouragement Along the Way

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 34:3

This is my kitchen - Show and Tell

So Often I see pictures posted of the most beautiful kitchens. I love my kitchen and I set the tiles in it myself. My kitchen is filled with activity all the time. I could have taken a picture of it in all its prestine glory, but that is not how my kitchen looks. This is how my kitchen looks.

My sinks are filled with dishes because that is where they go before they find their way into the dishwasher. I am so grateful for that dishwasher, I hadn't had a dishwasher for about eight years until we bought this home! That is my Mircowave that broke!  It has been replaced by a beautiful new one. Why do things break when you don't have money to repalce them?

I wanted to post this, because I do not have a nursing baby. I do not have toddlers 24/7. I am not teaching my children all day long. And I believe in the gift from God called PAPER PLATES!!!! And my kitchen still looks like this! So this is my gift to you. Tomorrow there will be dishes to wash, and the next day there will be dishes to wash. But there will no always be a child in need of a story. This is my gift to you, relax!

If you want to do a Show and Tell with us, let Mary know.

Bobbie,

I want to drive all the way down there to give a ((HUG)) and have tea or coffee with you my SSiC. I love how you remind us what is important. (0= I too have a kitchen in constant motion, lol. I am not a organizer by nature and have keep working on it. You have the sweetest kitchen.

To bad my hubby doesn't believe in dishwashers other than one with two hands. (0;

God Bless my SSiC
In Him<><

Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping it real!! What an encouragement you are!

The metal plaque says "We do not remember days, we remember moments". I added to my post the significance of that saying, if you are interested. Thanks for asking because I should have included that anyway!

BTW, I agree, paper plates are a gift from God!

Blessings!

...for being real!! My kitchen definitely has that lived-in look, well in my case I'd have to say "chaotic" LOL and I don't think I will post a picture of it in its usual messy state. Your kitchen looks very homey and inviting. 8~)

Blessings,
Kym

It looks lived in and happy and busy. What more do you want from a kitchen, the "hearbeat of the home."
I have a S&T, also. My very first!

If we could all come clean and post our real kitchens maybe we'd all feel a lot better! I am glad to know that you are a real person with a real life!

I have a sign above my sink that reads:

Thank God for dirty dishes,
they have a tale to tell,
While other folks go hungry,
We're doing very well.

It gives me good perspective.

Thanks for sharing your kitchen.

Dear Bobbie,

You are welcome at my home for tea or coffee anytime. My kitchen is u-shaped. One part of the u houses the stove/oven. Continue to the left and you are at the sink. The final "arm" of the u... divides my kitchen and my dining room. It is a flat surface and collects all our mail, newspapers, magazines... and anything else someone thinks to put there. In the corner of the dining room is my husband's current reading pile. I have given up on these two areas. I am quite sure that their is some kind of paper reproduction that occurs when we are all asleep.

Wow! I had to relook again. I thought for a second that was my mess on the counter. (lol) With my 3 kids and their friends, I can't keep up at times. It looks like a war zone in our too.
Intro too: I'm Debbie from off the S.S group as well, nice to meet you.
Thanks for sharing a wonderful post.

Wow, you are a brave woman! I have just told myself recently that I have got to lower my expectation just a wee bit. In fact, I just posted about it! I want to enjoy my kids more then a scrubbed-to-the-max house. There will be time to clean after they are all grown up!

Ha Ha Ha this was a good one! Bobbie you have to come live with my Troy for a week! He will put the flames under your hiney to keep a pristine kitchen. I don’t think my hubby cares much about the rest of the house but he wont eat till the kitchen is clean and everything in its place! Have you seen my kitchen?? It pretty much looks that way 24/7! The joys of living with a neat freak! :-) My boys are now just like Troy and tidy the kitchen too! LOL

Oh and I think your kitchen is cozy, quaint and perfect just as it is! :-)

Im still doing the tag you gave my BTW didnt want you to think I had forgot!

Good job on the tiling. I like tiles. I tiled our counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. I would like to tile the backsplash in the kitchen, someday. Are the one tiles mirrored or black? It's hard to tell from the pic.

Blessings,
Lori

Jul. 13, 2007 - This is Great!

I try to keep up on things, but sometimes I look around and say, "WHAT HAPPENED?" My friends & I finally got real with each other one time and said, "When we take turns inviting each other over, do you other gals run around trying to make your house look perfect? YOU DO!?!?!? Can we make a pact to be honest & real with one another and not try to kill ourselves and children on the day we have each other over?" =)

Thank you for making me smile! I am learning to accept myself as the woman God made me to be, including being not so organized! Thanks for reading my blog and commenting. It always makes me feel special that someone reads it. No one in my life knows I have a blog so it's there for everyone else!

Blessings,
Shannon

About Me

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. This blog is a homeschooling devotional from a bubbe's point of view or watching the next generation excel where I only succeeded.
