Encouragement Along the Way

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a class you can find in many area churches. But the way Saddleback does this is very creative. Now I know most small churches could not do it this way , but maybe they could monthly. Do you remember the picture of the Tropical Jr.High area? That was near the TENTS...Classrooms are still done in Giant tents. On Friday night, one tent is filled with close to 500 people celebrating their recovery. They all come together for bar-b-que. The prices are 1.50 for Hot dog , salad and drink; 2.50 for a sausage salad and drink or a hamburger salad and drink or 3.50 for chicken, salad and drink...Of course I went on a special day and they also had 5.00 steaks! (this salad was one of the best salads I have ever had!) We ate in the tropical area and then went to the worship service.

Now after worship there is testimony sharing and teaching on the current 12th step they are doing, and then they go to small individual groups. Drugs, alchohol, sex addiction, food addiction, anorexia you name it there is a small group for it.

In all honesty we did not go to the small group because we wanted to go to the movies and see Evan Almighty! I loved this movie.Bruce Almighty was a little off color in many areas. But Evan Almighty is very family friendly!

The next day since we were going to Saturday Night services, we went to the beach and to some beachy shops that make be so thankful for Wal-mart and Target! We went to a fabulous Mexiacan place for lunch and I had a Chili Relleno because I love them!

This is what we do in Beachy shops, we try on 250.00 hats and 75.00 flip flops!

After trying on hats we found Bubby's place! Now being a Bubbe myself, I needed to go here! Loving Gelato like I do (nobody does Ice Cream like the Italians) I had to buy some! What did I buy ??? Honey Lavender Ice Cream. Oh My Gosh it was Amazing!!!!!  So here I am with Bubby...

The empty table behind me is where we sat and ate my ice cream, while my sister and her friend Pam ate bakery stuff. Pam's daughter Sarah had Ice Cream like me, but just Chocolate chip. We also went to a Garden Nursey to look at exotics.

More to come..... Happy Independence Day my friends!

Bobbie,

Thanks so much for the David analogy. I really think that will help - it is all a matter of the heart and focus, isn't it?

Hugs,
Carol

PS I'm so glad I found you as a blogger friend. You are a special lady.

Ah, chile rellenos! You are speaking my language and it's not yet 8 a.m.

Oh, to live in a place where you do church in tents all the time and not be concerned for the weather. I haven't been to CA in about 30 years and i wonder how i would see it now as an adult.

So, what was in the salad? I"m needing fresh ideas.

Love the hats! Woo, pricey on the flip flops. I have a nice stash of flip flops, as they are my only choice of shoes for warm weather. The most I've ever paid for a pair is probably $5. LOL.

Blessings,
Lori

About Me

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. This blog is a homeschooling devotional from a bubbe's point of view or watching the next generation excel where I only succeeded.
