I've been tagged by A Taste of Chocolate! Tag Rules: 1).The player starts with 8 random facts about herself. 2).The person who is tagged must post, on her own blog, her answers and post the rules first. 3).Then the player must pick 8 people and tag them. Also leave them a note on Message that lets them know that you tagged them. You can write who you tagged on your blog also!
1, Six months into Home Schooling I got my GED. My only study material was my 5th and 3rd grade curriculums I was using with the kids. I aced the test.
2.If we had not Homeschooled my children would never have seen their father. The Air Force thought Swing shifts needed him A Lot! So my kids would have been at school during Dad's awake time and home during his work time.
3.Homeschooling for the Military Child is the only consistant thing in their lives. Their parent can leave in a moments notice, there is no such thing as "A Home Church" , there home changes about every two years as do their friends, and if they are in school one state may advance them and the next may hold them back. Homeschooling is the only thing in their lives they can count on being there.
4. Because we Homeschooled, we discoverd our Jewish Roots on both sides of our family. Had we not done geneology as history we would have never known my great grandmother and Great Aunt were in a Concentration Camp during WWII.
5.While living on base in New Hampshire a neighbor turned us into social services for not sending our children to school. I was so thankful to have HSLDA a phone call away. After that, I had my best relationship with a school superintendent!
6.My worst experience with a superintendent was when "They" had control of my children. I had called to take to him about the abuses of the principal and was told I could only speak to him if I had a referal from the Principal. At that moment I knew if they would not talk to me about my children's schooling, I need not talk to them once I left their control.
7. My children learned the joys and sorrows of pregnancy by watching women come to see me; unwed moms (usually troops from the base) would cry when they became pregnant and they saw the emmense joy on the faces of mom's that were married when they became pregnant. One of my children had emmense joy, one cried, both have amazing children and lots of love. God is good.
8.I have now completed High School three times. So much for being a drop out. I have taught college courses and been a guest speaker at colleges discussing the socialization of the Home Schooled child in sociology. They are always blown away!
Okay there are my eight things you may or may not know about me. I am going to tag Bread of Life (because she might actually write something) , Shay , HsKubes, Kaysmarmey (because they are new friends and I want to know about them too) Melissa because every Open House blog I visited, she was there first, I need to get to know her.TwnCrm2001 and Kristee because I think they are people you should get to know! And anyone else that wants to do this tag andhasn't done it yet. During 2007 Homeschool Open House I have chosen to keep homeschooling as my focus, Canadagirl thought of this and I like it (even if she never tags me ):
Most of all have fun with it! Let me know when you get yours done, I really love finding out about you all. |
