One of our main verses in our Bible Study today was James 1: 2 Brothers count it all joy when you fall into various trials. In the Study it did talk about Baseball and being thrown a curve. I did NOT expect the one that came at all.
During our leadership meeting, my sister/friend Valerie came in. I should probably back up here and mention that because Talia(the 2 year old) is home sick with a virus and ear infection, My Beloved drove me to Bible Study instead of Heatherlee. He came in hugged Valerie who told us her 71 year old father fell putting in new windows and broke four ribs. Valerie and Mike have been friends since grammar school.
Back to the story, Valerie came in to our leadership meeting and told me Mike needed to talk to me. I left prayer and there in the hall was the man I had jus kissed and said good bye too about 1/2 an hour ago. "What's wrong?" I asked.
Well it turns out his sister Lynda (who was to turn 50 in December, had back surgery today. During the surgery she had a blood clot go to her heart, and died. Talk about a curve ball.
I had a few offers to take over the class, but I went and just flipped things around a bit. Instead of starting with the study and ending in prayer, we started with prayer and prayer requests and finished with the Bible Study. Mike went on with his day making phone calls to other family members including his father, whom he had lunch with as well and Heatherlee and Matthew. It wasn't until evening that we could digest the happenings of the day.
Lynda was Mike's sister, but they had a distant relationship. Her life was filled with such emotional pain there seems to be a sense of relief . We do believe a one time in her life she asked Jesus into her heart. And hope that Jesus in His mercy will welcome her.
Her desire is to donate her body to science and not have any type of service. So each family member is dealing with her death in individual manners. It is very surreal. I know your prayers will surround us and I ask that you pray for some many of our family that does not know the Lord. May God use this to draw them in.
Lynda from Missouri is survived by her parents Charlotte of Mississippi, Al of California, her daughters Brandi and Christy, four grandchildren, Her sister Sheri and her brothers Mike and Brian. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jenny last year. She loved Medicine and at one time was a Lab Tech. This would be why her desire was to donate herself to science. She loved her mother. Lynda lived a life of contradictions we pray peace has finally found her because she never found peace.
This may be the only obit she has and no life even one of contradictions should pass unnoticed for we are all created in the image of God and that alone is reason to rejoice.
"God is not simply the Creator of our lives. He is also the Author of our lives. He has written each person’s life to reveal His Story. There never has been, nor ever will be another life like mine – or yours. Just as there is only one face and name like mine, so there is only one story like mine. And the story of my life is written to make something known about the God who wrote me. The same is true for you. Your life and mine not only reveal who we are, they also reveal who God is. "quote from Dan Allender
For Mike and I we thank Lynda for helping write our story. She is the one that told Mike I was visiting my sister Teri and he should come over and meet me. Three days later he proposed and I accepted. God is so good. Thank you Lynda for the nudge. Thanks for your prayers especailly for Mike's Mom and his sister Sheri.
