Why there is no peace in Israel

Psalm 122:6-9 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels." For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, "Peace be within you." For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity

Kezziah Rose has a Birthday

This is the beginning of an exciting month for Kezziah. Today Jan.3rd she turns 12 years old. Today we will be going to the Bowling alley and having a birthday party for her and for Ben who is turning 13 today as well. Together this year they have been studying their Torah Portions. Even though their birthday Jan 3rd is the same, their Hebrew birthdays are not. That means we wil be having a month of Bar/Bat Mitzvah's! Kezziah's will be the 23rd of January. A Hebrew Calendar has a way of changing things up on you!

So this month You will be seeing a lot of Kezziah on my blog. For we are going to celebrate her as she becomes a woman..hee hee!

I thought I would start with her first bat Mitzvah present. Heather decided for each of the girl's she would make them a shawl/headcovering for their Bat Mitzvah's. For her son's she plans to weave their tallis! Very Ambitious!

Tirzah's Torah portion was on Genesis 1 so her shawl turned out looking like an amazing brilliant Sunburst!

kezziah's Torah Portion is Exodus 6 about the Covenant!

It is absolutely beautiful and a constant reminder that sheis covered in The Blood of the Lamb.

She is so lovely! Inside and out!

She came over the other day to be my day nurse while Mike went out to work. She has such a servant's heart and so much compassion. We spent part of the morning working on her Torah speech. How wise she is!

Please keep her in prayer as she prepares for this incredibly God focused rite of passage.

Happy Birthday Kezziah!

My Husband and holidays

Posted in Tags

I had all kinds of plans for the holidays. I knew Heather would be here and she has so much fun putting together family feasts. So surgery over the holidays would be a breeze. I pre-made all kinds of cookie doughs and specail treats before my surgery. Everything would be perfect.

I didn't count on the weather sending us snow storm after snow storm. So we had only one night of Chanukah together and Christmas They never made it out of their snow covered driveway. So what of my plans? Did I tell you I am married to the most amazing of men? Really, he did not order in Chinese or buy a pizza. He cooked dinner again and again.

And just so I could show my daughter how amazing her father is, I took pictures.

Not just any dinner would do....

Nope, He pulled out my Little Jewish cookbook.....

He made certain the eggs were Kosher before adding them.

And Made Latkes!!!! For real! The amazing man made perfect Latkes!

And I ate them!!!!!

And then Christmas came and withit my Father-in-law and my sister. So He made a brunch of Chili Relleno Cassorole, Cinnemon Rolls and Latkes. After everyone left, there was Christmas dinner for two. He really blew my mind. He got on the internet, found the perfect recipe and made a Standing Rib Roast for dinner! He cooked it to perfection! It was mouth watering and on sale!!!!

And afterwards HE thanked ME for all I do! Really I am so blessed!

So I thought I would start the New Year sharing the blessings God has given me. This man is the greatest of them all and leads to every other blessing God has blessed us with as well.

My Show and Tell for 2009 is this...God is Good All the Time!

For more Show and Tell blessings visit Canada Girl's Blog! That in it self is always a blessing!

Merry Christmas from our home to Yours

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

He Gave….

Jesus is the gift of Christmas! In a lowly cave carved out for animals to share Jesus entered the world to give all of Himself for us. The manger bed to the cross Christmas is all about Jesus. The date we celebrate the birth of our Savior is not as important as knowing our Savior. Believing God is of far greater significance than believing in God.

Accepting the Gift given is the key to Eternal life. As you hold the gift someone gives you in your hands, you look past the glitter into the love poured into it. A child glues together popsicle sticks and macaroni adds a picture of themselves and Love pours out of the wrapping and into your heart. Similarly, a bed of straw does not seem like a place to discover love and a blood stained cross that leads to an empty tomb is hard to wrap. Yet God wrapped Jesus up in swaddling clothes and eventually lays Him into our hearts. God Gave!

We give gifts to bring joy and delight into the hearts of those we love. So did our Creator. We give gifts in hopes they will be received with the same joy we had in designing them. So did the Lord. Christmas is not about the gifts under the tree, but about the gift On the Tree! For our joy, for our peace, for His love this is the reason for the season.

Because of Jesus love spills out into our lives and reaches out to places we cannot even imagine. This year love for a people in a land on the other side of the world brought a young woman into the very heart of Africa. She gave all of her time, collected all of her support, knit countless hats and opened her heart wide; in return they opened their arms ever wider to her and to her Savior. The Gift of Christmas glows on her face. Tirzah we are so proud of Jesus in you.

Because of the gift of Christmas tired Firefighters found a community that appreciated them, cared for them as the fought back flames for us. Love spilled out of the manger once again.

The truth of God’s Word was made flesh to dwell amongst us and within us. Jesus was wrapped in Swaddling clothes and later a linen cloth. We are wrapped in His love and presented before the Throne of Grace as His own.

One gift we unwrapped time and again this year was the healing power of the Lord. Feeble knees were strengthened and kidneys made whole. Moving to a home with much room to roam made for stronger, healthier grandchildren. Relationships were renewed, restored and rekindled. What gifts are you unwrapping this year?

We hope in the midst of the bags and bows you will unwrap this gift of Love we send to you. You bring so much joy to our lives.

Because of Jesus, Mike and Bobbie

With my surgery and all of our snow, the only way I am sending out any Christmas greetings is ON-line. The stamp and paper does not equal the love or the prayers with which this is sent.
We love you all so much and pray God blesses you richly in the coming year.

Tirzah in Rwanda Show and Tell

Posted in Tirzah hsp missions

It seems like we have been waiting all year for me to post these pictures! Oh...We have!

I have only seen Tirzah once, the day she came home. A snow storm has her snowed in at her house and me at mine! But mom sent me a few pictures ( she took over 1000) and I know you can't wait to see them.

Psalm 37:4Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Neh 1:11 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting (her) favor in the presence of this man."

Matthew 19 :14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

Col.3:16-1716 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!

Many more will come. But I must quit for now. I love the ones of her teachng and how sweet the children sit and listen. Ad how she glows... They will come next!

Show and Tell with Canadagirl... can you believe we finally have pictures that go with the vision!

Tuesday with Tirzah

Tirzah came home last night and stopped on her way up the hill (during our snow storm) to hug my neck. Boy did that feel amazing. Oh how I have missed her. thank you Jesus for bringing her home to us.The story she is just beginning to share is life chaging, hers, theirs and mine. I will eventually have much to share with you on this. Today we are rejoicing that she is here. And pictures...she took over 1000 so I will eventaully have them too.
her luggage is still missing and contained her malaria medication, but our pharmacist got her a free refill ( Have I told you lately how much I love living in a small town) PLEASE continue to pray they find her lost luggage.

So thankful to have her home. But she has been bitten with the bug and is now thinking about going back someday to teach the children in Kindergarten. Seems she met a kindergarten teacher there.

You have been a part of such an amazing outreach. God will surely bless you for blessing the people of Rwanda with your prayers for them and for Tirzah.Thank you so much.

Update on Me
I am home and healing. If I had any doubts that my last surgery was a miracle, I have none NOW! Wow what God did for me was amazing teh first time. What He is doing for me now is equally miraculous, just not as pain free. Guess He wanted to be sure I knew it was not my skillful surgeon, noot the gift of the ice men and not my kind caregivers. IT WAS GOD! Now I know that is true.

I do have a gifted surgeon (who thinks I am nuts!) But It was God Who caused my body to willing allow this man to hammer in my new knee. Last time I talked to him about the sounds of the saw, this time it was the hammer. And in true Bubbe fashion began singing " If I had a Hammer , I'd hammer in the morning..."

It was not the gift of the Iceman because although it does an amazing job of keeping the swelling down. But the pain this time had me pumping that morphin button all night the first night. Sick to my stomach because of it the next day which made me switch to Darvocette. So I know It was the Lord alone that kept me from feeling any pain the first surgery.

And the kind care givers I had the first time? I have NO idea where they went because they were not there and I was so happy to get out of there and in to thecare of my beloved. He is amazing and got me successfully through my major after surgery meltdown yesterday. (which reminded me as always God has counted my days before even one of them began so He has a plan for me I just need to trust Him) Today is much better.

....

I love you all thank you for the prayers. Please continue to pray that I absorb my bruising well with no blood clots etc.
Hugs and kisses, Bobbie

New Update on Tirzah

Hi all,

Here’s the latest news I received earlier today (sorry for the delay, been a very busy day!): She also talked to her mom this morning and told her she did her radio interview! Guess what? It will be heard in three counties!!! Can you imagine? It is heard in Burundi, Tanzania and in Rwanda.(over 50 million people, she does not know that!!!!) If you have a copy of Operation World, you will notice one of the prayers for Burundi is for the speakers on the radio! How awesome it is to know that people in America reading that book prayed for Tirzah! God really does just blows me away sometimes. He has everything in place, all we need do is obey!

So without further interruptions...the team update!

Hi Friends and Family,

It is Friday night and Richard, Randy and myself are back in Kigali.  Justin, Melinda, Kristen and Brent are still in Byumba.  On Monday, the day we got there, a terrible van accident happened that killed 11 students from the University here in Kigali.  One was a wife of a pastor that Pastor Samuel knew very well.  It affected the whole area of Byumba.  On Tuesday they held a memorial service for all 11 people that were killed and we attended it.  Thousands of people came to pay their respect.  Only the immediate family show emotion but everyone else looked very sad.

On Tuesday morning we met with the leaders of the church and walked them through the 5 giants and what was the one that they were facing the most in their area.  They all said poverty and the need for jobs.  Only one percent of the population works to get a paycheck.  All the rest are self employed in their gardens and fields trying to raise enough to feed their families.  In the afternoon we went to one of the churches that the pastor oversees.  Did I say it was the rainy season?  Well, it is and we got dumped on everyday.  That's why everything up there is so lush and green.  What beautiful country.

We met with a group of widows on Wednesday morning in spite of the accident.  It was very informative for us to hear how they unify themselves and meet weekly to pray, dance and sing.  Boy, can they dance ~ and us too!  We each had a opportunity to encourage them in the Lord and in trying to raise their grandchildren and make a living everyday.  In the evening we went to several of the churches that are under Pastor Samuel.  Each of them were up high in the mountains.  Even if they have nothing and I mean nothing they dance and sing like they are rich.  Each time we got to give our testimonies and gave words of encouragements.  They gave us gifts and even served us tea, bread and bananas as we were the first white people to visit their churches.  It was very hard for us to eat in front of them when we knew they had nothing that day for food.  God humbled us in their presence.  It was a rich experience for us.  One we won't forget as the dust raised from their dancing and the joy on their faces.

On Thursday we met with the youth and heard their plight in life.  Kristen was able to help them think through that they need to think through their projects they all want to start but they keep waiting for someone to help them. She encouraged them to plan out the steps that would take them to success of reaching their goals of their project.  It was a great meeting and they will see them again this weekend.  We visited a tea factory in the afternoon.  It was very rainy again so the roads were quite bad but we made it.  We couldn't stop at a church nearby because of the rain but the people all came running down to the van to see us and to shake our hands.  All we can do is pray for them.

This morning before we left we visited with the Mother's Union ~ married woman with children.  Again, another wonderful experience.

Paul, Chris, Tirzah and Charlie report that they have had a wonderful time working with children and meeting all kinds of people in Gisneyi.  They will return here tomorrow and we will meet up with them.  Oh, one of the prayers we need is that there is a petrol strike and it is very hard to get petrol.  No more than 20 liters (just over 5 gallons) at a time.  What an experience to be at the petrol stations fighting for gas but I have to say they all stay calm even though they want their petrol so they can work.

We are seeing the face of God everywhere in this land that is fighting its way back after the war.  Continue to pray for their hearts to be open and for them to change their minds that they can't wait for someone to help but that they need to start making life happen for them. There is so much more I could write but there just isn't time and I'm sure you will hear it from your loved ones when they get back.

Until later ~ We love you and can feel your prayers

Ellie, Randy, Richard, Justin, Kristen, Brent, Melinda, Paul, Tirzah, Chris and Charlie

Show and Tell with Canada Girl

Posted in Tirzah hsp missions

It is Friday, my favorite day to blog and share with you what the Lord is doing in our lives! And to remind you how amazing CanadaGirl is for hosting this! Isn't she awesome!

So Today is just a TELL because I have no pictures to Show. But last night while I was watching the grandkids and Heather and Sam were at the Christmas Party....Tirzah called...URGH!

"Hi mom, I thought you would be home. I have FRIENDS I want you to meet. Oh You are not there... well this is Angie say Hello Angie Hello...This is Candy say Hello (in the background "How do you do" not in English..hee hee) Well I guess you aren't there I love you.." I could hear my sister in the background of the message, how blessed I am to hear her calm voice in the background. All is well!. And as we listened Heather said "Mom are you crying ?"and as I choked back the tears I said "Of course not!'

Heather said she KNEW she would call while they were out! She was heart broken! And yet we were so excited to think that TIRZAH has friends! Friends in Rwanda just her age! How awesome is our God!

More awesome than we imagine, for after Heather called to tell us what she missed...Tirzah called back!

HOORAY!

She was eating a Scarlet Tomato! Now this is a big deal because a couple years ago at Camp Gilgal, she won the award for most consumed Tomatoes! She has already spoken at Two Churches and is in Byumba Staying at a pastor's home. She said she has seen some very hard things (as we knew she would)o: There is a refugee Camp in Byumba, I am sure that is a portion of the hard things. She said the Children surround her and she is filled with love for them all. And new FRIENDS How cool is that!

Next week they will be with The AIDS Orphans, there are more hard things for her precious heart to see.

Thank you for your prayers, what a blessing you are to my heart.

NOW>>>> NEXT FRIDAY... I will be in Surgery so I will not have a Show and Tell.  Just know I love you and I will be back as soon as I am able and So will Tirzah!

Pray for my Doctors, by caregivers and my healing...Until then, Hugs to all of you My Sweet Sisters In Christ!

About Me

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. This blog is a homeschooling devotional from a bubbe's point of view or watching the next generation excel where I only succeeded.
