My Weblink Wednesday CHRISTMAS link
I love Chanukah! And I love Christmas. I love celebrating Jesus in a society that thinks being a Christian means saying No to fun! Not in my home and not in my heart. I truly believe Saying Yes to Jesus is saying yes to Joy , yes to life and yes to fun.
However as I watch the ads start counting down to Christmas, I do have a pet peeve! And my pet peeve has to do with the counting of the 12 days of Christmas. I know it is silly. But since this is a HOLY celebration, you would think they would realize that the Holy days are counted, nit the shopping days.
Jews are good at the counting of the days, heck we even having a holiday set aside for just counting the days, "The Counting of Omer".
So Here is my link to shed some light on counting the Twelve days OF (not to) Christmas.

If you would like to share a holiday weblink (or any link at all) go over to SoCalVal's blog and sign up on Mr Linky.
And While you are visiting my link, if I have Encouraged you an anyway this year, you may go to the HomeSchool Blog Awards and Vote for me Encouragement Along the way... I am not going to win, but it sure is nice to know I have touched your heart.

You're not only a multi-tasker, but a blogging queen. I had a lot of catching up to do and then some. LOL. I am so glad that you didn't have a blood clot. I will pray for your dh to quit smoking. My parents have quit many times and then started back up again. ;o( It's difficult, but nothing is impossible for our wonderful God. So good to hear the news about Tirzah. What a lovely gift from your secret sister. Hmmmm, I will have to send a picture to you to put in that angel frame. Tee Hee. Just kidding. I can't wait to check out your weblink Wednesday. As a matter of fact, I'm off to do that now. Have a wonderful day.
Love ya sis,
Lori

Oh how you tease me...can you say 6 more years? Well DH can...sigh. *LOL*
We have been doing this for 24 years now as a family. Mama (me) did it for 12 years (some years overlapped with Daddy) so I've been Blue for...oh...um...since 1981. YIKES!!! 26 years. No wonder I feel rootless and like a wandering Israelite following Moses! LOL!
So you give me hope that there IS life after all this.
The only place that we might have been at the same time is Peterson. We were at Space Command from 1998-2002 I think. He is a personnelist and ran assignments there for the most part.
Thank you for your prayers and YES! My airman IS home this year. A bunch of TDYs coming up but nothing back in the desert is on the books right now! Thank you Jesus!
Thank YOU for your years of service and for making a path for the rest of us to walk along. We have been homeschooling about 16 years now and it has been an adventure to see the changes in the military community concerning it. When we first began no senior leadership was doing it but now...Chiefs, Colonels, you name it. We hung in there long enough to make it to these ranks toting out homeschooing "brats" (our girls are proud to be brats as long as it's the military brats btw) along with us and look at us now. Those kids are serving, going to the Academies, changing the world. You are so correct in saying homeschooling is the best gift for our children. I would not (could not) have wanted to do this any other way. It is what has helped us stay connected as a family without all the issues most military families have to deal with.
So thank your Airman for us and I can't wait to get know you better. Aim high (...toward God)
In Him,
Trish aka MamaBugs

Bobbie, I have to confess that before Marissa moved in I didn't understand a thing about the 12-Days of Christmas. You see, when I was a very little girl, my family (mostly my mom and us kids) attended a Lutheran church... but when my Dad was in Vietnam we started attending a non-denominational church. My Mom was saved at that church ~
Well, that church thought that if the Roman Catholics did it, we shouldn't. So, we didn't have a liturgical calendar. I have attended non-denominational and evangelical churches ever since. I cannot remember ever attending a church with a Liturgical Calendar.
Anyway, when Marissa moved in I wanted to honor her Puerto Rican heritage. That is tough. Since Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the United States, many of the holidays and traditions are the same. But, the country's main religion is Catholic and Three King's Day (Epiphany) is a major event. That is when I started learning about the 12-Days of Christmas, got interested in setting up annual traditions in my home and found Leviticus 23...
Now we are ever evolving and the meaning of tradition has become a little muddy ~
