Christmas show and tell with CanadaGirl
Posted in Tags
I am not yet ready to start the New Year I have so much of the old year still to celebrate. I have photos to share of our Christmas Eve Traditional play and the new memories it made, so I hope you don't mind Hanging around Christmas a little longer, after all it is only he fourth day of Christmas and my true loves gave to me so much joy!
We have a tradition in our family to go to the little community church on Christmas Eve. None of us go to the little church as attenders through the year, but we are all dear friends and come together whenever the opportunity arises. The play never changes. It is the same year after year and on Christmas Eve Hour after hour. Starting at 4:00 pm and repeating every hour until 9:00pm. We went to the last performance since the grandchildren were in it and we would have to pick them up anyway.
The Play is the Rehersal for the Christmas play. (This allows for all kinds of adlibs and surprises.) The choir director is Not in the Christmas Spirit and the practice hopefully will change her heart at the end.

"I just don't FEEL like Christmas! Maybe we should just cancel the whole thing!"

The Choir begins singing *You've Lost that Christmas Spirit, Oh oh that Christmas Spirit..." Mary is Kezziah, Malachai is the Shepherd behind "Joseph" and Jaden is the shepherd beside "Joseph".

Because this is JUST a Rehersal Joseph is wearing the jingle bell hat. As they sing he grooves to the music.... Malachai is slowly moving away....

Jaden tries to stop the bouncing bell... Malachai ducks!

Now while this is going on over on this side of the stage, Pastor has called up the children in the audience forward while he tells them the Christmas story. Tirzah brought Zemeira and Talia up and Talia has been enthralled by everything Baby Jesus this year.

Now for the light bulb moment...Pastor Wes is showing the pictures to the children, Talia is right in the middle of the story....

Right out of the pages, Mary is comforting Baby Jesus....

Kezziah, such a good mommie, sings a lullaby to Baby Jesus....

The Shepherd boys bring up the lambs. This is the Biggest deal to the boys. Thankfully there were two lambs this year and both brothers got to carry them!

Now they pick guys out of the audience every preformance to be the Wisemen. I believe something amazing happens when they bow before the Baby. This year Uncle Shannon who has Never been a Wiseman was set upmy his brother (my Beloved) and here he is kneeling in the black hoodie! This is when the Light bulb clicks on for Talia....

If Malachai, Jaden and Uncle Shannon can go see the baby, SO CAN I! And before Tirzah realizes she is gone, there she is center stage seeing Baby Jesus!

The Christmas Spirit has come, Talia is still hanging out with Baby Jesus, Malachai is still keeping his distance from the Jingle bell hat that is being put on again and....

And Kezziah does exactly what Mary would have done, "Come Her Child, come and See the New Born King!"
I hope you enjoyed our play. If you would like to see more Show and Tells with CanadaGirl, head on over , find Mr. Linky and come visit!
By the way...It's SNOWING!

That has to be the most perfect Christmas play ever...I love how the little one got so caught up in it and you are right..."Mary" did just as she would have. It's so easy to imagine her doing just that..."Let me share my son with you! Isn't He beautiful?" sighhhhhhh

And I love what you have said about having so much to celebrate of the previous year! So often, I watch the kids at Christmas rush from one gift to another, one thing to another, particularly the boys, only to find them cranky and tired and saying that they're bored. The girls seem to do better at enjoying things and savoring...
I am looking forward to whether you will post again as you did last year about a verse for the year ( http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/bubbebobbie/262053/ ). I really enjoyed this and have been thinking ahead as I consider how this played this year, and how it might continue in the coming one.
The kids' sickness from Christmas Eve caught up with me today, so it's off to rest, if that is possible with toddlers...praying that this year concludes as one completely blessed by Jesus!

I am so glad you asked and even happier that you remembered that post from last year. I will be sharing my Verse for the New Year on New Year's Eve and a whole lot more.

I love "photo journeys" and yours was wonderful. The little captions add so much. So...you had them overnight?! How many and what ages? You are very brave. I've had mine overnight before (when DD and hubby flew to TX to drive back an Excursion), but there were only 3 at the time. LOL They took the infant.
And...it's...snowing??? In CA? What's with that? It's not snowing here, although those faithless weathermen predicted 4-6" last night. We got rain, as usual. Sigh. Nice snow shot.

Bobbie,
I love all the pictures of your Christmas play! And you have snow too! Was it a white Christmas for you? It was a sunny Chrismas here but bitter cold!

I so enjoyed the play. I played a little bit of catch up on your blog today. I would have loved to have been in the car with you to hear the excitement of the little one while you were driving through the live nativity. How precious. Snowing? In CA??? Well, Valerie was wishing for snow. Yucky. You can have it. I hope your cold is getting better. Mine is a lot better. Bill's would get better if I could keep him inside. ;o)
Talia, being inquisitive, and going up to see baby Jesus, reminded me of an old song. You probably will remember it better than me. My mother use to listen to it. It was by George Jones & Tanya Tuckers daughter and I think it was called "Daddy What If". Do you know it? My mother use to have it on a 45 record. LOL.
Love ya!
