Show and Tell "The Storm"
Posted in Tags
It all began Thursday night when the rains came and the wind howled through the trees. The problem??? The Wind really wanted to literally go through the trees! When that happens this is the out come....

The tree across the street snapped in half and turned a garage and a shed to kindling while taking down the powerlines for four or five blocks.
So how dark was it?

THIS DARK! Notice the teethy smile???? All I did to take this picture was turn off the flash!

This is the next picture with the flash on Singing "This little Light of mine!"
So how do you keep ten people entertained during a power outage?

You play Uno with Daddy , disect Brain puzzles and color by latern light.

You sit in front on the window (Yes this is morning sunlight) and knit until you go cross-eyed (see my beloved's socks Hetherlee is making at her feet?) and when you do go cross-eyed you switch to solitary.

Talia and I played with her woodkin paper doll. How cold is it???This menopausal Bubbe has socks on her feet!!!!! That's cold!

THINK THINK!!!! What else can we do??? We can't watch Pooh so we will be Pooh! We have already READ Pooh! So ..."When I up Down and Touch the Ground It puts me in the Mood..."

She wants to help with the puzzles but the biggest puzzler of all was where is mama? Like Little Boy Blue she is under the haystack (blankets) Fast a sleep. Will you wake her? No not I for if I do she is sure to cry!

The Tabernacle and the Holy of Holies is a good place to spend your time and Malachai did. A long, long time!

It is after breakfast and snowing. Hair is damp without a hair dryer and even though it Morning and they are in front of the picture window, in order to color the lantern must be turned on!

And this is the view straight up out that window! How very thankful we are that our trees are still standing.
And so begins winter.....

It looks like you had a great time even without power. We went for 48 hours once without power and I don't believe we had nearly as good of a time as your family did!

What a storm. And snow. In sunny CA? I'll believe anything these days. I learned today that a tornado (what's that?) touched down between Vancouver (WA) and Portland. I saw the funnel on the news! What's with THAT? It looked like a mid-west wreck!
And the button is gorgeous. Thank the Lord for the teen techys. My son is supposed to be making Tiany a signature, but she hasn't sent him what she wants for it yet. :-)

I am glad you all are safe. The grandkids will never forget the fun they had at grandma's house. We had something like this happen one year, only it was ice, it destroyed 60% of the trees in our town, no energy for three days, and DD thought it was the most wonderful three days. Its amazing what no electricity does to kids ;)
Blessings on your day :)

Thank you for stopping by and leaving me comments..just love 'em!
Great pics! I'm really thankful for our sunroom after reading your post. We'd still have plenty of light in the day anyhow.
OK< so you're wearing socks for the cold, but that sure looks like a short-sleeved tee shirt you have on!

So glad you weathered the storm...bad pun NOT intended! It looks like it was tons of fun at your home actually! How great you have photos to recall the storm of 2008 in later years. I know you will be talking about it because we had an ice storm years ago and ended up having to stay at my sister's home and our kids re-live it every time we see each other!
