Sometimes things just come together and you know God is in control. Today is such a day. How do I know? Because today is The National Day of prayer and tonight begins Yom HaShoah Holocaust Rememberance Day. Two day's devoted to prayer. Two days set apart to Remember.
We remember to Pray for our nation, to pray for our Leaders, to Pray for those in authority.
We remember a time when a nation abused its authority and tried to extinguish The children of Abraham.
We remember not everyone turned their heads some fought, some died, and because of that, some lived.
We remember My great Grandmother and Great Aunt that were in Concentration camps in Yugoslavia and my Uncle who stormed the beaches of Normandy. I wonder if he knew my husband's grandfather was on the shores with him?
We remember and we Praise the Lord ! And shout never again....
Then we remember Rwanda, and Darfur, Croatia and Serbia, And we pray How did it happen again?
And what can we do now???
And we pray........
2 Chron 6:21 Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.
Luke 23 : 34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
Jeremiah 33;6-9 "'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before. I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.'
And we Remember .......
Consider the poem ascribed to Niemoeller (although its different versions and exact origins are debated), First They Came. The poem describes the passivity of German intellectuals as the Nazis purged group after group of targeted people.
First they came for the Communists,
- but I was not a communist so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists,
- but I was neither, so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Jews,
- but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out.
And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.
