Today is weblink Wednesday and I thought I knew what I wanted to connect to today and then God changed my mind.
Most of us have been on our knees for Especially Heather for over a year now as she has battled this brain Cancer. She has just begun her 10th round of Chemo and as she has, she has written a post that asks a very probing question. Here is the weblink to this post Heather has an amazing gift at putting into words God's heart. I am always challenged by her.
Here is the question “Though I do not understand why, God is asking me to show my trust by...
Oh I love your question.I am in the process of answering it,daily. “Though I do not understand why, God is asking me to show my trust by...walking in surrender." The Lord has been calling me to this place for a long time, but until recently I did not have a name for it.I only knew it was deeper and closer to God's heart than I had been in a while. It's name is surrender.
Two weeks ago I read this.... "To want to serve God in some conditions, but not others, is to serve Him in my own way. But to put no limits on your subission to God is truly dying to yourself. This is how to worship God. Open yourself to God without measure. Let His life flow through you like a torrent. Fear nothing on the road you are walking. God will lead you by the hand. let your love for Him cast out the fear you feel for yourself." Francois Fenelon, The Seeking Heart
Step by Step He leads all He asks is that we follow. Pick up your cross and follow.... The same week I also read this....
"God prepares a cross for you that you must embrace without thought of self-preservation. The cross is painful. Accept the cross and you will find peace even in the middle of turmoil. Let me warn you, that if you push the cross away, your circumstances will become twice as hard to bear. In the long run, the pain of resisting the cross is harder to live with than the cross itself." Fenelon, The Seeking Heart
I firmly believe that every thing in our lives is filtered through God's love. Each trail is fitted to us individually, perfectly to develop Christ inside of each of us. We may come to a place where we believe this is in fact "More than I can bear" but the truth is for the believer that fully surrenders to God, You are bearing nothing. The Word of God proclaims that we are dead in Christ and it is Christ that lives in us. That being the case, we, being dead, bear nothing and it is Jesus that is bearing all things for us, in us.
Each trial being fashioned for you is found to be true when you ask the person going through it if they would like to trade their trial for anothers. I did this once when I was called multiple times one day by women saying they could not handle their trial one more day.I asked them to trade theirs with my other callers. Could the woman with the adulterous husband trade him for the breast cancer of another? Would the woman with the husband going to jail for incest/rape of her daughter trade with the drug addicted homeless family? The jobless family for the death of a child? No! Not one wanted to trade their affliction for anothers. Not one could imagine facing their giant alone without God.
All of our trials no matter the size are designed to burn off the dross. Some can stand more heat than others. As you are going through whatever it is you are going through, Ask the Lord for grace and mercy. Ask Jesus to walk with you and then do something extrordinary, pray for someone else.
here are some who need your prayers
there are many more, some have lost babies, some have missing children, some are just hungry and hurting. So my challenge for you today is that no matter where you click today, whatever blog or nook you go to...pray for them. And take a moment and fill in the blank from Especially Heather's question.
Weblink Wednesday is hosted by SoCalVal who can also use your prayers as they seek out God's will for their family.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
