Encouragement Along the Way

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 34:3

Jun. 15, 2008
Today is a much better day

The fire took out our power yesterday, but it has almost all been restored. The fire is over 50% contained and away from structures so they hope full containment by tomorrow. The southern fire is out and those that evacuated are now allowed in to survey the damage. Of the thousands of homes threatened, they only lost 74. We have 3,283 firemen here fighting the fire.

Yesterday's move went very well and Heather, Sam and grandbabies are safely settled into their new home. As we returned the smallest ones home, we found out that they had a fire at the Mill Pond up the road but it was quickly tackled and completely out. Good thing because that was our only other way out. But now all the roads are open again. And to think this is just the beginning of Fire Season and no rain is in sight.

Oh my dear midwest friends, how I know you would love to share some of your abundant waters with us. You are so in our prayers.I have a long lst of natual disasters in my life time, I am only down to not having experienced a Tsunami now. And I am no where near the ocean! Floods, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and blizzards...yep, I think I will leave the Tsunami to someone else.

So in honor of having once again been thrust into believing God and once again believing above all else I am safely protected beneath His Wings. I will present my E-Book to you ADVENTURES ALONG THE WAY . It is about God's faithfulness in times of disaster, for us it was Hurricane Andrew. Lately The Discovery Channel has been showing Greensburg Kansas. How similar their town looked to Homestead. My heart absolutely recognises the landscaping of the town and their hearts. Over the last few weeks as I have seen the Tornadoes and flooding begin again I have been wanting to do this.

NOW if you are currently in the midst of a disaster whether fire, flood, or tornado and you PM me your email address I will send you a copy free of charge. Your money is needed else where. One thing I know when you are told your home no longer exists all you can do is Praise the Lord for what still does! And you will be amazed as you do at all you actually possess. Jesus always out does FEMA!

Thank you for your prayers! It could have been so much worse than it is. Hundred foot Pines burn very differently  than grass plains yet the destruction and scars on the land are just as deep. God bless our fire fighters!

Morning update

The danger is almost completely gone. Praise the Lord! We are 90% contained and hope to be completely contained by evening. Many Fire Fihers are returning to their own stations today. How we thank God for them.

We would love some rain to take the edge off our fire season, so if you have had your fill, you can pray it our way!

Because of Jesus, Bobbie

Wow! What is happening in this world! Isn't it amazing! Great post today! I am off to my kids promotion night with their homeschool group. I wanted to stop by and say hello. I'll come back again when I have time to catch up on things. I am still amazed that you know Davey. You must like Bikes... am I right?

I'm so glad you all are okay and Heather is safely moved.
You forgot volcano, by the way, so there's two disasters you've avoided.

My 4 yo saw a man with tattoos yesterday and said,
Mom he has lots of stamps!

I hope your therapy went well and you are getting stronger each day.

About Me

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. This blog is a homeschooling devotional from a bubbe's point of view or watching the next generation excel where I only succeeded.
