Last night our second eldest ganddaughter, Kezziah Rose was called to Torah for her Bat Mitzvah! What a vision of grace she was standing before a hundred people who were there to honor her. Kezziah has been given a Gift from the Holy Spirit many of us over look, the gift of service. When the Lord says think of others more highly than yourself, that is our Kezziah. She does not have to be told twice to do something, most often she offers. She does it always ( well almost always) with a great attitude. She also does not like to be the center of attention. To me she is the definition of a Handmaiden of the Lord. For her to stand and read her Torah portion in Hebrew , English and in honor of her Uncle Paul in Arabic, was only by God's grace. Her speech over Exodus 6: 2-6 was filled with the Lordship of Yeshua in her life and what it means to serve Him.
I had the honor of annointing her with oil as the women of the congregation prayed for her. Her mama handed it to me and said "You annoint her it is your calling." It was such an honor to see God's Word fulfilled from generation to generation. At the same time my heart giggled a bit, for when I annointed my daughter, it was as the Psalms commanded " and it ran down the the hems of his garment" and I knew she was recalling that moment as she asked me to annoint her daughter. I mean if the oil is a representation of the Holy Spirit, why would we think " a little dab will do ya" Give them more much more than a touch on their forehead. So I did. Not as I did her mother for her gown was too lovely to get oil on, but enough that she will have to wash her hair today. :0)
When it comes to Biblical traditions, the Blessing of a son or daughter as they grow into adulthood is one of my favorites. It is the moment when they take ownership of their spiritual walk. It is the moment when they are told they are loved outloud. It is the moment when the Holy Spirit shines through them, even if they get hives in the process.
This Bubbe's heart could not be filled with more esteem for this child woman of the Lord. She shone in His glory and brought honor to her God and her family. Kezziah Rose Today she is a woman of Yeshua. Well Done!
Congratulations, Kezziah Rose ! Your Pa and I are so proud to be grandparents of such a woman.
