We got four bull calves a week ago. It’s Jenna’s job to bottle feed them. We got another milk cow with a heifer calf two days ago. We are going to sell the new milk cow because she’s thin and dances around when we are milking her. My dad put up some stalls for the calves and a loft for storing hay and straw. My dad bought a discer and disced a place to plant potatoes but it isn’t ready yet.
Yesterday John, Jason, Joshua, Josiah and I collected wood because it’s supposed to be cold all week. This is how the system worked. Joshua, Josiah and I would take the wheelbarrow and get wood while John and Jason would cut wood. Then when we had a lot of wood all of us would break it or cut it. Then when we were done we would stack it.
It snowed a couple inches a few days ago so we sledded in our pasture. At the bottom of the hill was a fence that we would bump into. We had inflatable sleds so sometimes they would pop. It kept Jenna busy patching up the holes.
We trimmed some of our goats’ hooves. We think their hooves have never been trimmed before. Yesterday Jenna got spit at by the llama and got it on video. My dad got a fuel tank.
We have the goats! We got six of them and we are going to get more today. It’s Jodi’s birthday today! She is one year old. Our grandma sent a doll for her.
We got a sheep the other day. She is due to lamb in April. And we are going to get Nubians does that are due to kid in April as well. We put up a fence in the front yard with the help of our friends. Cheerio
I went to the store with my dad and sister, Jenna. I was going to buy a harmonica but we couldn’t find them. So instead I bought binoculars. They are 12X25 and they came with a case. It cost $20.30 including tax. And Dad bought June a recorder.
Cheerio….Oh and I almost forgot happy New Years Eve!
I set my trap last night down by the pond on what I think is a rabbit trail. I used apple as bait. But I didn’t catch anything. So I left the trap out to see if I catch anything today.
Now that it’s warmer out the opossum hide is unfrozen so Jenna and I salted it and hung it up to dry. Cheerio.
I mentioned in my last post that I set my trap. I set it with an apple that Jonah didn’t finish eating. Jenna and I put the trap by a log and near it there were a couple burrows. Guess what I caught? I caught an opossum.
Here I am going to whack it with a stick.
I had to whack it several times but then my dad took a whack at it. That did the job.
We started at the neck. It was a little tough but we managed.
It was also hard to get around the head and legs.
Skinning the back was the easiest, then the sides. And when we where skinning we tried to not cut through the meat. We would skin in shifts because it was 35°F out and it was snowing.
Here I am trying to skin it with my sister's pocket knife. But it was hard so my dad got out his fillet knife.
Hi again. We went to a dance on June 27th . That dance wasn’t my favorite.
Yesterday we picked some carrots from our garden.
I got a sunburn yesterday. We have chickens and ducks. Some of the duck aren’t very friendly.
Hi, again. Jenna put a playlist and a big red button on my blog. Jessica got a blog. I think I might put some pictures on my next entry.
Mom got four magnifying glasses.
Hi, again. It’s raining outside. Jenna, Jessica and June were outside playing. I forgot to say in my last post that Pat Garrett captured Billy the Kid.
Billy was an outlaw. He was a cattle thief also known as a cattle rustler. I can type seventeen words per minute. Well I think that’s it.
Hi, again. Sorry I haven’t been bogging. Yesterday we went outside and we ate dandelion and clovers. The clovers were tough. The dandelion was tart. My sister Jill went to get an IV today with my dad. I got a book from the library. It’s called The Authentic Live of Billy The Kid by Pat Garrett.
My mom is sewing and the other kids are watching Fiddler on the Roof. We are having soup for supper. My dad went to the store to get vegetables for the soup. I did not get to eat the fish that I caught. My sister June was sewing mittens yesterday.
I went fishing with my Dad. I caught 7 fish but we did not keep them. My Dad caught 3 bigger fish and we kept them. Today we went rollerblading. It was cold so we did not stay out very long. John, Jason, and I are blogging and the kids are watching TV.
