The Beach

Hi, I haven’t been blogging because we haven’t been doing school.

We all went to the beach in California and we found sea shells. We were going to go to the big beach but there were too many big waves so we went to the baby beach. It was fun. We went to California in the first place to get a bus so we could travel in it but we did not get it.

We got home yesterday. While we were gone it rained. The grass is green finally. You would not expect to see green grass in Phoenix.

I didn't know you were going to California.I always love any time I get to go to the beach. I love the sounds of the waves crashing, the smell of the salt water, and the cries of the seagulls. Oh, and those sandpiper birds that run along the shore. Those big waves are the ones the surfers love.
I really am glad you got to go and had so much fun. Sorry about the bus, but someday, if it is God's will, you will get one.

to tell people we aren't "doing school". What you say is "We have been exploring non-traditional ways of learning." I mean, you learned stuff at the beach right? Like...it's sandy. And there is alot of water. And it is salty water. And there are seashells. And there is sand with salty water. And salt water in your nose doesn't feel good. And sand in your teeth doesn't taste good. And oh ya, next time bring a bigger bucket than Dad.
That's learning. There will be a test later.

I am glad you guys got to go to the beach! The pictures on your mom's blog look like you had lots of fun! I loved going to the beach when I was a kid. I lived in California for the first 18 years of my life. I spent many summers at the beach. Every year, for a week, my mom and us kids would camp out at San Clemente, CA on the beach in a big tent. My dad would come on the weekends. I really miss not having an ocean nearby!!

Too bad you didn't get that bus, traveling the USA is a fun thing to do. Grandpa Rick and I like to take driving trips. We have taken three of four long trips.

One was up Highway 1, on the Pacific Coast up to the Canadian Borderthen we came back down the Eastern side of the Rockie Mountians, visited Auntie Jenn in Colorado.

Another was to Illinois to see Grandpa Rick's family. We went to Chicago, and lots of other fun cities. We visited in Amish Country. We came home by the Old Route 66.

We like to travel the back roads, and see the farms and small cities rather than taking the big interstate highways. We take our time just slowly seeing fun things along the way.

We have had lots of rain in the past few days. Saturday was a HUGE storm!! It is nice to have the grass all green again, without having to water it!!
