Faith, Family and Friends Afghan COMPLETED

March2008004.jpg Faith, Family and Friends image by StinaJane_photos

Here is the finished product.  I actually finished nearly a month ago, but this is the first chance I had to upload photos to my computer!

The edge is slightly ruffled so it does not lay flat, but other than that it turned out nicely!

Cool Contest!

Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3… FOR FREE!

This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.

This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program.  Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking.  Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included!  For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.

To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/  and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it.  And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it.  And good luck!  The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg.   And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win.   Yay for free stuff!

A Cute Testimonial and More on Bundled in Prayer Wraps!

Holly posted this precious picture of her youngest in his Bundled in Prayer afghan!  Isn't he a cutie? Also, if you are in the market for some great All-in-One diapers, read about Holly's new business...  Blessed Bottoms!  She also is using her home business as a prayer ministry!  If I am ever blessed with a new baby I will probably be contacting her  to make a few diapers for us!

He looks downright HUGGABLE!

Speaking of huggable...  have you seen my ad in the Winter 2008 issue of TOS?

LucyLillie Dixon is the model here!  Go on over to her blog and tell her how sweet she looks!

By the way, the bonnet she is wearing was made by Brielle!  Make sure to pop on over to HER blog today and wish her a Happy 18th birthday!  And check out her amazing costumes!

 Lastly,

I wanted to post some more pictures of our Bundled in Prayer Wraps...

How exactly do they stay WRAPPED?

The wrap is made exactly like a shawl with one special difference...  a button in the corner!

TODAY is the BIG DAY!

It's February 1st.  It felt like a long time to me, how about you?  I think I am as excited to announce the WINNER of the afghan give-away as some of you are to hear all about it.

First, I want to say (although it may sound cliche) that I hated to choose!  Really, I had originally planned to just PICK one that really grabbed my heart!  However, at least half of the entries REALLY grabbed my heart.  I found myself thinking of some of the nominees throughout the days:  those deployed in Iraq (I am a Navy wife after all!), those who have lost loved ones in the past year, a mama who suffered a stroke last January 27th (that's my husband's birthday!) and preemie baby Ezra, who will be celebrating his first birthday in February... (have I ever mentioned that my husband was born THREE months premature?)

 HOW COULD I PICK????

I wish I could afford to bless you all with an afghan.  That is not possible, but I CAN bless you all with the prayer ministry aspect of this venture.  I have always wanted each item to be custom made so that I can pray for the recipient and I can certainly pray for each one of the nominees with or without a prize attached to it.  May the eternal gift of prayer be as valued to each one of you as the material...  really, when you think about it, not so special prize!

So, last night I wrote down the names of each of the nominee and put them in a box and had my hubby draw the name.  I felt it was appropriate that he chose since he is truly the benefactor of this contest since he has been so generous over the year to allow me to make so many free and discounted afghans for close friends and family members.  And it was he who encouraged me that my afghans are good enough to market. It is nice that he believes in my abilities and understands the heart behind what I do....  prayer!

My husband and I prayed that God would allow the name that was drawn to be HIS PICK for this contest and that everyone would feel a special touch from HIM!

Then, he drew the name.....

*drum roll please*  (did I mention that my husband is also a drummer?  LOL!)

He fumbled around in the box and looked up at me with a grin.  He loves to tease!  Finally, the suspense was too much!  He drew out a slip of paper and cautiously opened it.  He wouldn't let me see what it said.  He just kept looking at the name and back at me.

"Who do you WANT to win?" he asked.

"I don't know!!!" I nearly YELLED!  "What does it SAAAAAY?"

"Me...  MY...  ummm something little.... L...."

"MyLittleLammies from MOMYS.COM!!!!"

Now I WAS YELLING, not nearly, but fully yelling with excitement!

So the winner is the nominee from DEE !

MyLittleLammies has won an infant-sized afghan.  The afghan does not have to be FOR an infant.  It can be for an adult.  Whoever wants it!  I'll need to have some ideas about colors, etc. and I can start it this weekend.  It will probably be in the mail next week and she will be BUNDLED in PRAYER before Valentine's Day!!!

I have known Dee for awhile...  from MOMYS.COM and from my first blog on blogspot and then here.  She has a sweet, giving spirit and I am glad that her nominee won!  Actually, I would have been glad whoever won, but as I was thinking about the many prayers that I have prayed for Dee I thought it was appropriate that her nominee had won!  And MOMYS.COM has been an encouragement to me for years...  even before I knew what a BLOG was!!!!

So, Dee...  please contact me ASAP at bundledinprayer@yahoo.com!

Congratulations to MyLittleLammies!!!!
