Today is the day before Thanksgiving. Yesterday, we watched a dvd about the first Thanksgiving and William Bradford. It was from NEST entertainment. I am so glad our library has these dvds for us to check out. Most of the historical animated features are wonderful. Today, we are each busy doing our best to get the house more organized. H dusted and vacuumed, and washed windows. JR sorted laundry and matched socks. E has been doing laundry and baking bread. She also raked leaves and spaded her garden. I am mostly going around straightening things. I plan to make a sweet potatoe casserole this afternoon so that the oven will be free for our turket tomorrow. C will make rolls this afternoon as well. I got our fall tablecloth out but still need to iron it. Yeah, ironing isn't my favorite thing! Here is the recipe that I am planning to use for the Sweet Potatoe Casserole. Ingredients: 3 cups cooked sweet potatoes 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup margarine, melted 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 teaspoon salt ***Topping*** 1 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup flour 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1 cup nuts, chopped
Directions: Combine ingredients and pour into a 9 X 13 casserole.
For Topping: Combine topping ingredients, place mixture over sweet potatoes. Bake at 350 F for 35 minutes. This recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole serves/makes 8 I'm just so thankful to be home this year.
