I went to the first Convention in Cincinnati this past weekend, it was great! I only got to go one day but I enjoyed it to the fullest! I thought I would blog on the highlights for me and share some info I got.
I am really interested in My fathers World so I made sure I listened to David Hazel on the topic of combining unit studies, classical education, and The Charlotte Mason Approach- it was great and has sold me on this wonderful bible based curriculum for my crew this year. Their booth was wonderful with lots of samples of notebooks his kids have completed with all the product their to touch and feel. Check them out at mfwbooks.com
Effective Parenting was there and if you have read my blog for long you know I love this company. They did a talk on the break concept and had a great booth as well were I bought a few things of course. I bought some devotions on teaching honor and character in the family. They are at effectiveparenting.org
I went to see the workshop on Making Brothers and Sisters best friends. These guys were great, they did all kinds of skits and the kids in the audience seemed to love it. The team consisted of one brother, and two sisters. They have wrote a book called Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friend, its by Sarah, Stephen and Grace Mally. Its a great book to read to your guys on loving each other. It has some great practical ideas. I also saw this family on courtship, it was great too. Sarah has some great resources for girls too and some resources to help them develop their relationship with Jesus.
I had fun just looking around and seeing friends there, it was great fun. Make sure you get out this year to your local convention- you won't believe how much you learn.
