Show and Tell Day!

Posted in My Fathers World

I am partcipating in Candagirl's Friday Show n Tell so I can show all the fun projects we do in My Fathers World!  We are doing Adventures with my 8yr old and MFW K with my 5yr old.  We are having lots of fun as you can see!

These are our Indians Tepees.  We are also learning all the different names for Jesus this year and our second name after Jesus is The Light.  We had a candle and we glued on salt and our banner that says Jesus is the light of the World.  We light this at dinner now to remind our family, without HIS light we would be in darkness!

This is our 2nd K badge, this week is the moon.  This reminds us that we are the light of the World when we know Jesus!  We should let it shine so the world can see!  Without light (the sun) we wouldn't have the moon.  Without Jesus we wouldn't have the light!

This is our homemade sundial, nothing fancy- clay and a pencil and a piece of cardboard-it really works, we put it out in the sun and it did turn when it should have.  This is from MFW K.

I don't want any of you to think I'm super homeschool mom, my husband helps a lot with the projects, actually he does most of them, some weeks all of them.  I do all the book work and reading and he enjoys doing these at night with the kids, (its a great bonding time with Dad)  If you do have a DH who is looking for a  way to be involved, projects and science experiments are great ways!  I think most Men enjoy this stuff more then us women (usually)  However if your dh can't or isn't interested just do what you can, I try to pick the easier ones for us to do and leave the real in depth ones out, children really do love these, and hands on learning brings lots of great memories!

You guys did a GREAT job on your hands on projects. This year that is my goal to do a lot more hands on. I got to get us past math. lol [0; I love the lesson to be like the moon. We are to "reflect" the Son. You are truly blessed with a hubby who is involved.

My Favorite T-shirt says "Be the Moon"
to remind you to reflect Jesus.

May that always be true of your Children.

Sep. 21, 2007 - sundial

Now THAT is a great idea for a sundial. The teepees look familiar. I think I did the same project with the sticks and papers when we studied Indians. Hmmm...I guess there's nothing new under the sun, eh?
If you want a great idea for an Egyptian pyramid, use sugar cubes, then smear the whole thing with that flour and salt mixture, then when it dries paint it white. Looks just like a pyramid. Hmmm...maybe I"ll post a pic sometime of past projects.

Looks like you are having a great time. Is it laborious to gather all the supplies, or does MFW send them with the package?

Have a great night!

It is so fun to see how the projects for MFW are turning out. What a great way to involve dad too.
