Well if you read my Monday Meanderings, you will know we were on vacation this week but here our a few projects from last week that I haven't showed yet. Join Canadagirl for more show n tells.

We talked alot about canoes last week and how much they were used in colonial times so we made one. My son loved doing the yarn part and did a really good job with it. He decided to put markings on it like Indians would do!

My son loved studying Ben Franklin, he was so impressed with him, I have to admit I Iearned more about him then I ever knew before. My son kept saying, wow, he started the first fire dep., the first hospital, discovered electricity, had a printing press and was a founding father. The book basket MFW incorporates is wonderful for this. For the ones who don't know MFW, they have book basket time everyday- every week you go to the library and pick books that the Teachers Manual suggest or you can add your own. So if you are studying Ben Franklin you read about him some in history and then they have lots of books on him in the basket, I'm amazed at what my son picks up 10-20 minutes of book basket time a day. He has learned so much and can't wait to see whats going to be in the basket next week. Here we made an almanac that Ben Franklin printed (the supplies were given by MFW) My husband got so into this he looked up all kinds of sayings that you would find in Poor Richards Almanac! Sam got quite a kick out of some of them. The ones below are the ones that came with ours.

In science they wanted to you to pick a tree in your yard or neighborhood and draw and paint it every season. So this is Fall, he drew the tree with a pencil and then painted the leaves, sun and sky. This will look neat at the end of the year because he will have done the same tree for each season!

Hope you enjoy! Can't wait to see some of your show n tells this week!
