Friday Show N Tell!

We are loving My Fathers World K , my son started this program not knowing one letter, one number, one phonic sound.  I really went into his K year thinking he would be hard to teach and wasn't sure which direction to go in but that proves I shouldn't doubt what God will do, he brought My fathers World K into our lives.  Its a gentle program that makes K fun but educational.  It doesn't push anything, just slow and gentle-one hour a day, sometimes it doesn't even take that long.  Just perfect for my Zach!  He now knows his whole alphabet, he can count to 12, knows every phonic sound we have learned and many character sayings that go with each letter.  He is learning about creation and all the wonderful things God has made, everything that it is Our Fathers World!  And the best part, he is LOVING it!  My 4yr old daughter has picked a lot of this up naturally as well just joining us.  My oldest like many of yours was a child who was taught something once and boom he had it, my second didn't speak until he was 3 and just didn't seem to naturally get things but this program has been wonderful.  I can't tell you how excited he gets when he learns something and it just clicks!  We both jump up and down and get so excited.  Now that is homeschooling and loving it!  I wouldn't want anyone to experience that with my son instead of me and his dad, I feel so blessed to be apart of his learning!

One of the things we do is make a badge, at the end of the year we will have 26 badges with character and biblical saying's on them.  I have showed some in other show n tells- here are a few more we have done.  At the end of the year I will show our bulletin board with all of the on it.

We have been learning about dinosaurs for Dd and Octopus for Oo and Turtles for Tt and Uu for us where we learned about our bodies and how wonderfully they are made.  We also learned Nn for nest to remind us that God always takes care of us.   So we have read books about these subjects, learned the letter for them, made a badge, and learned the phonic sound for each.  Its great how everything goes together.

These are octopus's that we made out of our hands.  I have seen hand turkey's but never hand octopus's.  My young ones loved these!

These are some of the books we have been looking through for these subjects.   My Fathers World does book basket, so we just mostly skim the books, there are a few we read but I don't want you to think I have my K and preschooler reading all of these.  We just sit on the couch and look through them for fun!  It is amazing what you learn like that!

The Great Dinosaur Search (Great Searches)

Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Creatures

What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs? (DJ and Tracker John)

This one came with MFW, we loved it.  Its a book from Ken Ham and John Morris.  It tells you what they believe happened to the dinosaurs after creation and where they fit in during our history-it kept my grade K attention the whole time!

Visual Dictionary of the Human Body (Eyewitness Visual Dictionaries)

Pop-up Facts Human Body (Pop-Up Facts Series)

We got this one for Christmas, you open the book and body parts pop up at you, real neat book!

Birds, Nests & Eggs (Take-Along Guides)

I know I have some readers from the My Fathers World Boards.  I thought you would enjoy seeing some of the books and activities we have been doing.  I still skip alot of things.  Because I do have a 3rd grader doing adventures I don't get to do a lot of hands on stuff with the K student.  So I try to get some books in and do the badges, and let him participate in some of the adventure science experiments and so forth.

That is wonderful that your son is enjoying learning. I think that is the most important thing-- if they enjoy it, they will want to keep doing it. I am glad it is working so well for you.

I am so happy that this teaching program is a perfect fit for your son. And, dinosaurs and little boys go together better than P&J. (-:

I may have to look into this. My second son sounds similar to yours and I have been wondering what I should do with him. Where did you find that program?
Hop on over to my blog,
click on the link to Dobson's site
and pledge that you will be
a Value Voter come fall.

Then spread the word far and wide,
1,000,000 pledges he is seeking,
to inform the "world" that,
we believe in the sanctity of life,
we stand for one-man, one-woman marriage,
and In God We Will and Do Trust!

Don't forget to leave a comment,
you know we all love them so. :)

You're making me want to go out and purchase MFW K right away, though I think my budget will have to wait until the fall when my ds is kindergarten age. Thank you so much for the blog award too. It means so much! From your current post, we all have our down days. I hope you're feeling better soon. Sometimes just writing it all out and talking to someone helps and of course praying. We are finally seeing some sun here. Spring is all it's way, I hope! Hang in there!
