A haiku is a short, 1 verse, 3 line, 17 syllable poem, they are usually written about nature. The first and third line have 5 syllables, and the middle line has 7. Yesterday I wrote some for school. So, here they are.
This is my first one:
Tall and leafy trees,
peacefull there by the brook,
waving in the wind.
Here is my second:
Bright red tomatoes,
growing on their lush green stems,
rotund and juisy.
My third isn't really a haiku, its a ukiah, I made up how to do ukiahs myself Its the same as a haiku in some ways, (short, 1 verse, 3 lines, and yes, even 17 syllables) but instead of 5-7-5 its 7-5-7 syllables.
Leaves are falling from the sky
red, orange and yellow,
they sound like they are clapping.
Now, here is what you do: I'm gonna have a contest, a haiku writing contest!! (no, not ukiah, haiku) So you write a haiku, and sent it to me, (you can do it by commenting, or clicking 'email me' on the side of my blog, or how ever you want) and on nov. 12, I'm gonna pick my fave. That gives you three weeks to write your haiku. I will email you and ask for your address if you win so I can send you a prize :) Thats not to hard, is it?
