Tag, I'm It - Homeschool Resource Favs

I've been tagged by danib and this one's a thinker.  Here goes:

1) One homeschooling book you have enjoyed -

Christian Unschooling (Growing your Children in the Freedom of Christ) by Teri J. Brown with Elissa M. Wahl

2) One resource you wouldn't be without -

A:  I must name two - Natural Speller by Kathryn Stout and Teach Your Child to Read In 100 Easy Lessons (S. Engelmann)

3) One resource you wish you had never bought -

A:  PowerGlide Spanish (Ahhhhhh!)  Sorry.  Just didn't work for us.

4) One resource you enjoyed last year -

     A:  Key To ... Math

5) One resource you will be using next year -

A:  That's too far away to tell.  Maybe, maybe Quarter Mile Math.

6) One resource you would like to buy -

A:  Hmmm ... I'd like to get a good chemistry set for my oldest but I haven't found it yet.

7) One resource you wish existed -

A:   A machine that would clone me (only smarter) so I could take a break and my kids would be none the wiser.

8) One homeschooling catalog you enjoy reading.

     A:  Timberdoodle.

9) One homeschooling website you use regularly.

     A:  You're looking at it!

So that's it.  My brain is tired.  This tag reads like an advertisement!  We all have things we like, dislike, wish for.  There are so very many resources out there and all the catalogs compete to have the newest, the latest.  Sometimes the tried-and-true work the best, like the Rod and Staff workbooks for preschool/kindergarten age.  I didn't mention these books but all my children really enjoyed them.

Now, which 5 to tag?  Let's find out more about -

Hi Kate, Just to let you know I'm still around although my computer has been dodgy and is at the repair shop. I skim read your last few posts and find I have too much to say on borrowed library time. Looking forward to a more thorough read when I have my own back.

Don't get me started on PG - it's not a good program and expensive to boot!

I answered your tag!

You're right, that was a thinker! I haven't been doing it long enough to have answers for all those questions! I wanted to tell you that my mom bought the whole first season of the "Little House" series for my kids for Christmas. I'm so excited. I watched it as a kid, and loved it. I really liked Laura Ingalls Wilder too, and I'm so excited the kids will get to see those shows too. We're going to read the books a bit later after we finish some others we are reading.

Love, Kathy

Thank You, your note echoed many around me, the unbelief of this happening makes us all take a breath and realize how quickly things can change.

Good news, I have JOY!! Without it I would crumble into a heap of self pity... I have my moments - don't get me wrong - getting these injections scares me... I mean... what if I get hemmoroids from these pain killers? - will I bleed out? - lol - the thought (even though it is funny) has crossed my mind; seriously - blood thinner is nothing to mess with...

I suggested to my daughter, maybe we have been visiting the fats oops... fast food lane too much and God wanted to clean my blood from all that icky fat... so many ways to look at things - I am an odd duck and look at a different angle when I can.

Your words were sweet and kind and I value them. I felt as if an old friend had written to me, thank you - who knows one day we may end up in the same part of the country - probably on some extended field trip with our families - lol - my husband has been talking about the RV kind of lifestyle... seems like a homeschool dream... I could probably do it for a year... after that I would want stability of a homestead, freinds close by...

How close are you to all the rain coming down on the west coast? The media can play it up or down and those of us cross country do not really have the whole story...

oops.. I have taken up alot of your blog sorry!!

Have a blessed day -- happy voting!

Melody
