How To Write

I am looking into writing programs for my kids and possibly for myself to learn along with them.  The first one I've researched is the "One Year Adventure Novel" writing curriculum by Daniel Schwabauer.  I sent away for the free demo CD and watched it with my boys.  They seemed interested and I thought it might be a good program.  But the price has made me hesitate.  At nearly $200.00, I don't want to jump into this without careful consideration.  So, I thought I'd appeal to my blog friends and see if you've done any specific writing course, program or curriculum.  What has worked for you and what didn't?  Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Your son seems to be the type of kid who would REALLy love that program. Isn't he the really creative one? I don't have any knowledge of it, so you can be all of OUR guinea pigs. ;)

Dear sweet friend....I can be of no service to you on this matter =P.

Actually, since my girls are both in college, I've decided to just keep all their shared books and just skip over the normal route of middle and high school. If and when we start using textbooks, those will be our resource.

May. 14, 2009 - writing currric

I have enjoyed teaching Writing Strands -- have you heard about it? Another writing curric I enjoy teaching is Writing Trails in American History by Laurie Barrie. The prices for these books are reasonable. Our son took a writing class from a dear friend of ours who used Institute for Excellence in Writing. The price is high but the curric. is amazing!! If I could justify the cost I would attempt to teach it (wink!) Warmly, EMichelle * ps Thank You for praying for our daughter.
