Pocahontas (4)

Posted in Narrations
Pocahontas by Ingri & Edgar Parin D'Aulaire

The white people left and came back with some treasures for Powhatan from the King of England.  And he told them to bring gifts to him.   They did.  He got a bed, also a pot and brought him a cloak and a crown.  He was standing up and they told him to kneel down and they kept pushing him down until he was bent down a little so they could but the crown down on him

They were at a party.  The four white men were just sitting there and they get startled and stand up.  Then they sit down because it was just Pocahontas and her friends that had deer horns on their head and they were painted.

Then they were sleeping.  Pocahontas came quietly through the yards at night and told them to leave.  They did.  They were enemies now and stole anything they could.
