I am expecting a child from Haiti anytime in the next 6 months. He is already 21 pounds and is not even a year old yet. I am interested in this sling. Did you make it? If so, where did you get the pattern.
Wonderful idea for attachment parenting.

More info about the sling, please. How tired is your back after carrying like that? How EASY is it to put on (with an active 25 pounder involved)? Have you tried the ERGO carrier?
I FIRMLY believe adopted babies (and regular babies, too) benefit from attachment to Momma (Or Dad). I used a sling with Nolan and a carrier with Ozzie and I'm pleased with our bonding. Nolan was just TOO chunky for me to sling him for very long periods.

Above is the link with the pattern I used. It was quite simple to make.
It is a little awkward to put on and off, mostly because of the amount of material involved. So I only use it when I need to carry him for long periods of time. When we're at home, he wants to be up and down too much and it's too much work to put it on and off again.
Actually, it did not hurt my back at all. I think most of the weight is carried on the waist/hips, and my shoulders and back didn't suffer.
