Sep. 16, 2008 - La la la I Can't Hear You!
Imagine me with my fingers in my ears.
I have made a decision. I'm not listening any more. Not to worry, this only applies to politics. For everything else, my ears are open.
The thing is, I just can't stand it anymore. It's coming closer to Election Day, and it's that time when politicians, campaigns and "grassroots organizers" get desperate and start flinging really stinky mud. Obama is a secret Muslim. McCain collaborated with the Vietnamese Communists. Biden is a corrupt Washington good old boy. And Sarah Palin is a book-burning, militia-joining, child-neglecting, power-mongering bimbo. I am so, so, very tired of it all.
It's not that I don't care about the history and character of the candidates. But by now, it seems to me most of these desperate please to change parties are untrue. The few that might be based on fact are so distorted and twisted that it's impossible to make a decision based on them. And a lot of the "URGENT!!! You NEED to Read This NOW" emails, blog posts, and articles simply end up warning me of things I already know.
So, barring a credible and verfiable accusation that is printed in a respectable newspaper (and not a full-page paid ad, mind you) and discussed in a reasonably accountable media forum (not viral emails, blogs, or heavily edited YouTube vids), I'm not listening anymore.

Amen! They all just lose credibility... =/
And the paid entertainers? No more, please. They're paid to act, so I wish they'd just stick to that.

I agree wholeheartedly. My mind is already made up; nothing (barring a Divine visitation[smile]) is going to change it. All of the media madness is making me sick to my stomach, literally. I'm disgusted and will be so glad when the election is over and the lies (from all over) stop.

How about this?
What if, everyone followed this verse:
1 Thessalonians 4: 11-12
11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you,
12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
OR This one?
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised thingsand the things that are notto nullify the things that are,
29 so that no one may boast before him.
30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from Godthat is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

I'm with you! I'm purposely avoiding all the mess even though I know it's going to get harder to do the closer it comes to election day.
I went to the grocery store last week and some guy was outside with an Obama shirt asking everyone if they were registered to vote at their current residence. If he only knew who I was voting for he probably would have wanted me to have said no. :)

dustinsdreamer,
I'm sure you'll agree that voting is important no matter who you support. I'm voting for Obama and still want everyone to be registered to vote. I'm sure the guy in the Obama t-shirt would prefer people vote for his candidate, but since he didn't say that directly, you can't make that assumption. I certainly hope you don't think Obama supporters don't respect everyone's right to vote for the candidate of their choice. That's the very thing that turns politics into the mess we're all so sick of. Just saying ;)

I'm with the poster above - I'm also voting for Obama. I don't mind someone asking if I'm registered. I'm all for getting everyone registered and hearing every voice. I'm with Maggie though on the media saturation.

LOL. Anonymous you're funny. Of course I was joking. Good grief. :)
I didn't make myself clear though, that no matter how much I plug my ears and eyes I can't get away from all of the election stuff. People on the street are all too ready to talk...Democrat and Republican and Independent...everyone.

I think a lot of people are feeling the same way as you. I live on the other side of the world and I'm getting tired of the mud slinging. I can't imagine hearing it every time I turn on the tv or radio. At least, I get a little peace.
