Oct. 10, 2008 - Asrat funny
This afternoon Asrat rushed into the kitchen with a terribly worried look on his face and asked “Mama! Mama!…….When I find the girl I want to marry, do I have to get married to her on the same day that I find her?”
It was one of those questions that made me want to burst out laughing, but I kept my cool and told him that no, he doesn’t have to marry the minute he meets his future wife, and in fact, he’ll need to take a lot of time to get to know her, and get her family’s approval, and it would be good if he finished college and could buy a house too before he marries (the brainwashing starts early in this house!).
Earlier on he had asked me what he should do if some bad people came and tried to take away his wife (once he’s married).
My only guess as to why this is on his mind is that Focus on the Family aired a program this week geared towards young people on the meaning of real love (different from the fuzzy feelings “love”) and preparations one needs to make before getting married. He must have been listening a little closer than I thought.

Gotta love the things children say. I love seeing little ones with such a good view of the future, too!
