Celebrating the "Beautiful Mystery".....

• Jun. 29, 2009 - Weekend in Crossforks.....

On Friday morning we ran over to Dee's parents (45min) so she could take a walk down memory lane.Come take a tour of thier georgous!!!!! home.

Her dad ws working on staining this new carport he put up. He is famous for building garages. He put one up to the left of the house and across the creek. It has  2 garage doors on the front left and on the right he built a covered porch so if they ever sell, (never) he can easily turn it into a little house- so adorable. Dee and I both claimed it for our "snapping retreat"- not scrapping- rather a place to go when we finally SNAP!!!!!!His next project is a garage out back of this house....for all his tools. (th eother one is filled with vehicles, toys and motorcycles- v rods and such.....

Devan picked ahuge bunch of wildflowers on our walk by the creek...

Crossforks Snake Hunt. Hunters register to do this. They go out looking for these snakes then bring them in to be weighed , measured, and they check to see if they have been caught before- some king of wand checks for an implanted chip. If they don't have one, they put one in..

Bill, the snake handler:) this guy was great! He really knows his stuff and taught the kids(and us) so much.He has been bit 8 times!!! Here he is showing us one of his rattlers. You can see another one crawling on the gorund under that table.

Every couple hours they did a kid pit where they would put all the "bad boys" away and get out the non -poisionous snakes for the kids to hold. Devan was really into this......me? I ws trying not to freak out! It reallyis amazing that they can do this. 3 kids did get bit. They cleaned it  and put bandaids on and of they went.

Devan participated in a contest to identify and take (to Bill) the 3 snakes that Bill would call out. He timed each of them. They had to reach into those buckets and boxes with a couple snakes inside each one and pick the right one out..... SHUDDER.... I don't know how he did it.... sign him up for fear factor.

My brave boy!!

We had a great weekend. We decided we are making this a tradition.Dee and Greg and us, every year!

I love that home, my boys would be going crazy in that house! Was Devan the only one that went or was he the only brave one? Good job Devan!
