Thursday, March 8, 2007 - Is it spring yet?
We are so ready for spring to get here, officially. This has been such a difficult winter. The weather has been absolutely crazy. As soon as the sun came out, Sarah and Emma were dying to get outside and release "their wiggles". I sure hope it stays nice and doesn't get too cold again.
We're gearing up for moving at the end of this month. We are so excited~~never thought I'd say that about moving. The house is only a couple miles from where we are now so it's not a big move. It's in a great neighborhood and has a wonderful yard. We can hardly wait for Georgia to have a yard to play in so she can stop harrassing us all the time
. The house also has a doggie door which will be fabulous! No more bell ringing for her every 10 mins.
School is going well. We lost some momentum during the holidays and I'm still trying my best to get back on track. We've had a couple weeks where we just concentrated on language and math. It's difficult to believe I can still be amazed at what the girls are learning at their grade levels. Sarah is learning how to measure volume, how to compare and order fractions, and how to find the common and greatest common factors of fractions. I sure don't remember learning that when I was her age. Emma is learning how to add to the hundreds' place~~and she's in 1st grade. She tells me it's very simple and that of course she can do it. I thought it was going to be difficult for her--mom's wrong again! She is reading well and is always watching out the window to read the signs we pass.
Kayla is still plugging along and will probably be finished in the next month or so. She's been doing school for a year and a half (I think) straight--she's definately ready for a break. She should be totally ready for high school--WAIT. Did i say high school? Yikes--I cannot believe that. Does not seem possible!
We are looking at a different option for her for next year. While we firmly believe God has directed us to continue homeschooling (to which she agrees), we feel changes are necessary for both mom and student
. I'm going to a meeting next week for H.O.P.E.~~Home Option Program of Education. Basically, as I understand it, she will attend school (which is held at our church) with other homeschoolers one day a week. They have teacher's there teaching various subjects (from sign language, to different levels of the 3 R's, choir, band, etc.) one day a week. Then the remainder of the week I teach her at home using the same curriculum. So we're excited about some change and we'll update everyone after I attend the information session and we pray on it.
