Monday, September 8, 2008 - 2 weeks & counting~
We've finished our first two weeks of the school year. It has gone so well; alot smoother than any other year. I really believe it's due to all the planning I did all summer. I've never had a year where I had everything so well planned out including projects and extra worksheets. I even have Sarah's study guides and tests for history all ready. It really has made a difference. Instead of several hours of planning each weekend, it's only taking me around 20 minutes to cut and paste the lessons into their schedule for the week and print out projects. Finally, after 11 years, it's a well oiled machine. 
And wonderfully, it's still highly flexible because it's all laid out ready to be plugged in, I can still be flexible; actually more so than ever. So thank you Lord for the nudge in this direction.

Thank you for the advice, Cari. I believe that is so true. I cannot do this on my own and I keep trying to. Thank you so much for the reminder.
I am glad your planning is going better this year. I need to go back and find that post of it and find out what you did so I can do it, too! I spend about 3 hours a weekend on planning, too! I don't want to spend the next 10 years doing that if I don't have to!

Cari, would you mind giving me a few more details of how you planned out your year in a speadsheet? Or perhaps email me a sample? I just want to see how you did it. It would sure help me loads if I could sit down and just plan out my whole year. It may take several weekends, but in the end, I think it will be a huge time saver and help me in areas I've been struggling with. It's been hard trying to crunch in the time to spend 3 hours planning. However, if I asked Jon for a weekend (or three) to focus on this away from the children, I know he'd let me do it. Thanks so much!

Glad it's going well for you too. I can't say I am super organized this year, just actually sticking to the schedule. That and I picked super easy school for us to do.
