A Legacy of Love to Pass on to Your Daughters!

Posted in The Hope Chest

  Learning from Yesterday,
Living for Tomorrow,
in Every Moment Today.

The Hope Chest is an accumulation
of the best of  previous generations,
a collection of knowledge, skills,
goods and hopes for tomorrow,
governed by wisdom gained from
living in the light of the Word and
guided by faith in God.
That's why, as
Rebekah says,
it's "a legacy of love."

To All Moms of Young Ladies!

We are in the process of developing a "study" for this summer and fall for our girls (almost 14 and 6 1/2) on hope chests. Since our oldest, Annalise, is turning 14 and she is receiving a promise ring from her Dad for her birthday, we decided that it was time that she get excited in preparing her very own HOPE CHEST!  This winter and spring, Annalise started in preparing her own hope chest by taking a sewing class. She has already made a few things to add to her chest - she is very proud of each one of her creations! She is also learning how to do and what to put into her "invisible box of homemaking and mothering skills," by learning to do things around the house!

We wholeheartedly desire that our girls long to become wives and mothers! We want them to come to an early understanding of the importance and JOY of being a wife and mother. Just as a child who desired to become a doctor would practice with his stethoscope and tongue depressor, we want our girls to start thinking about what their hope chest will hold, what it will be like to clean a home, serve their family meals, take care of young children, keep house, become a help meet, etc.

I ordered a book, which I haven't received yet, called "The Hope Chest: A Legacy of Love." The girls and I can't wait to read it! There is also a great book by The Pearables that I just read about. Anyway, for those of you who might be interested in learning more about hope chests, here are some wonderful sites!
