Every week I give Annalise, Kaitlyn and Ethan a new verse to meditate upon and to memorize. They practice their handwriting while reciting the verse out loud. This is a great way to memorize scripture while practicing penmanship. This weeks verse is Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." This verse is very appropriate for this time of year and for this time in our life! Our family, is hoping to adopt a sibling set of five. We have turned in our homestudy to the "Fab 5's" social worker and we are set to go. They will choose families on Monday to interview on the 28th. At that time they will select a forever home for the children. The oldest three have specifically requested a CHRISTIAN family and we feel that God is orchestrating this entire adoption!
Annalise, Kaitlyn and Ethan have been very worried that we might not be able to adopt these children. I felt that this verse was very appropriate for us to learn since we are having to trust God completely with this. This is definitely a faith-stretching experience!
Paul says in Philippians 4:6 to worry about NOTHING, but in EVERYTHING, with THANKSGIVING, PETITION God with your requests. There are no excuses to be anxious or worried. Faith is the solution for anxiety! God is in control. Have faith. We should also know that we need to present God with our "petitions." The Hebrew word for "petition" literally translates as "beseech" or "beg." We must, therefore, continually present our requests to God, beseeching (requesting earnestly or begging) Him for the answer to our prayer! All this must be done with a heart of thanksgiving, which is a spiritual act of worship.
To sum it all up, earnestly present your requests to God. Have faith. Worship Him with a heart of thankfulness for all He has done and will do. And if the desires of our hearts are aligned with God's, then we know that our prayers will be answered according to God's perfect timing! Present your requests to God continually, but in the end - just let go and let God....
The Lord's Will be done!
