Psalm 123:3 “Be gracious to us, O LORD, be gracious to us, for we are greatly filled with contempt.”
~ Oswald Chambers Thoughts ~
“The temper of mind is tremendous in its effects, it is the enemy that penetrates right into the soul and distracts the mind from God…Beware of the cares of this world because they are things that produce a wrong temper of soul. It is extraordinary what an enormous power there is in simple things to distract our attention from God. Refuse to be swamped with the cares of this life.”

Don’t all moms deal with anger toward our children at times? This is a constant battle with nearly every mother. No, you are not alone! Even the author of Psalm 123 recognizes our inadequacies in being filled with contempt. It is easy to give in to our contempt and anger, but we must constantly take each thought captive. II Corinthians 10:5b says, “…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Far too often mothers can find themselves worrying over things which are temporal. We react to these as if the world is falling down around us. Instead, we should look at the eternal picture, focusing on how we can affect this situation by either displaying or controlling our anger through our reaction to the situation at hand.
Let’s all try today to see the big picture, as God sees it, rather than responding in anger and regretting our responses. Take every thought (and action) “captive to the obedience of Christ” and live the way Jesus wants us to live!
