Calling all Party Plan Mommies!

Ok, I am all for moms making money.  I would much rather buy decent products from people who I am aquainted with and stay home with their kids.

I wouldn't mind selling something myself and have been researching hundreds of them.  Trouble is, everyone is trying to recruit and I can't seem to get the true stories.  Like,

"Do you really make money?"  or

"Is it really worth the time or the trouble?"

"Do your husbands support you?"

Are there any moms out there willing to give me the real scoop?

So....  who out there sells products through party plans?  Please be HONEST, HONEST, HONEST!

I have looked into and considered strongly:

Jockey Person to Person---there clothes look better (and as comfortable) as the sweatpants I live in

Simply Fun--because we always play games after evening devotion

Norwex--I clean without chemicals already and they claim water and their wash cloth can rid acne.

Ok, One more question:

What would you buy and seek out even if you didn't sell it?

That was a lot of questions, but I just want to get some real insight and not a sales line.  I am all for moms buying from moms.  It is a great way to support each other!

Dec. 10, 2007 - Towing the party (plan) line?

Posted by Anonymous

Hi! I'm Sally, and I have been keeping up with your blog for some time. (i have you on my blogroll; i hope you don't mind! http://faulkner-family.blogspot.com )
Anyhoo, I hear exactly what you are saying. I was always Anti-Tupperware-Party-Girl. But.....long story short, I got into Pampered Chef and LOVED it. Did my husband support me? No. But, he realized after about 2 years that I wasn't caving, and had goals and set out to accomplish them, and he got up behind me. Oh, well, the trip I earned helped alot. And all the free stuff that wasn't even PC (like a stero and numerous $250 gc which we have used at all kinds of places!). Is it worth the time and effort? That's tough. I'm clinically labelled as a workaholic (if you were to take me to a doctor, LOL!) so I put ALOT of time into it. Well, nowhere as much time as I did when I taught. My family actually SAW me. I loved it. Do you earn money, really? Well, DON'T BUY A BUNCH OF STUFF. Seriously, do you really need th eway cool $45 shirt, or the bling-bling business card holder? personalized stuff? Nah, you can do with the basics, which DO include business cards you can make yourself.
My recom's on this are to look to DSA, the direct Sales Association. Whereas one group may have higher commissions, another has less costs for the consultant like host gifts and stuff.
YOu MUST believe in the product, or the idea behind it. I honestly had no clue about Pampered Chef before I started, but I loved to cook and that was my drive. I wanted to get others excited about cooking, even if all they bought was the dollar quick-cut knife, or a batter bowl. I became a Director and loved what that entailed. I stopped officially a little less than a year ago, not becuae of the company, but becuase of things going on with me. I would love to talk more with you about it. I personally believe that this type of thing is great, as long as you're wise about it. oh, how I miss my team! i loved the meetings, the calls with questions, the helping, guiding and support of being a Director; alas, God brought that opportunity into my life for a time, and the time came to say fair-thee-well.
