Four in Fruita

• Apr. 17, 2006 - Relax

I hope this isn't taken wrong, but I'm feeling a real need to relax. Relax about my homeschooling, my house and all the "guilts" that hang over our heads as moms wanting to please God and meet expectations. (I'm finding that when I relax, I get more done - wow)! When my kids were small we use to sit on the grass and draw and make up poems. We took walks and had friends over. We helped the neighbors and made cookies, etc. Now that they are middle aged I find myself starting to get stressed. What if..... This worry and stress and fear is robbing me of what education at home can be, and that is different than the "world". Who says we can't learn AND be relaxed. I believe God would like this for our family and this is what I am going to work toward as we keep on this journey! It hit me the other day that God's word commands us to be available for others, to have people over (I've not been too good at this), hospitality! My children will learn from this hospitality and God will take care of all the other what ifs! As for me - I'm going to relax, OK - at least make that my goal!

Thanks for stopping over at my blog, wow. Isn't it amazing how someone can be thinking the same things? I loved your post, and I am so glad the Lord is speaking to us about relaxing and listening more to Him in our homes.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
Blessings,

About Me

Hi! I journey through this teaching at home path here in Fruita Colorado. I have been married to my best friend for 16 years and we desire to make this homeschooling thing a whole lifestyle not just schooling at home. My kids are 12, 11, 9, and 4. We enjoy skiing, (I enjoy the lodge), art, film making, hiking, science, working in our yard, rocks & fossils, building things and having Dad read aloud at night - anything from The Lord of The Ring to Henty to The Very Last First Time. We want to be real to our neighbors and reflect a Christian worldview and the hope we have in Christ to a needy world all around us. We don't like wash!
