My First Blog!

I am so excited about homeschooling my Katie and Noah this year! I was a public school teacher for two years (first grade) and I saw enough to know I didn't want that experience for my own precious children! My daughter attended a private Christian 3 yr old program last year, but we decided to go ahead and make the move "home!" I am so happy to find this blog space. I am looking forward to making some friends and getting ideas. I am trying to not let myself get too "uptight" about the whole school thing this year. I want my children to enjoy it and me as we learn together this year.

What a great opportunity!!!!!!

Yes, welcome, friend! My biggest piece of advice to a new homeschooler is to RELAX and enjoy! Your sweet kids are so young and it is so easy to burn out when you are eager to make this a success. I know because I started K a year too early with my oldest because I was so eager! It nearly was the end of my homeschool career! Thankfully, it was not and we are going to begin 4th, 2nd and K this year. I am so glad you sent me that note, by the way. I look forward to watching your blog blossom.

As a Teacher you already know that each child learns differently and your own children are now exception. I have three very different children and each one is already learning in their own way. just remember that while you homeschool and you can pretty much do as you please, Don't push to hard or to lightly. You know your children and you know what they can do, foster their passions and use every minute and opportunity to make learning fun.

I, too, was a classroom teacher (kindergarten,) and just like you I knew I wanted something better for my own children. Last year was our first year homeschooling, and I LOVE it!!!

About Me

My husband and I have decided that homeschooling is the best option for our children and family! We are excited to get started with our almost five year old girl, and our 3 year old boy will be along for the ride this year as well! We don't know much about the "how" yet, but we will be learning together as we continue on this journey together! Feel free to read my blog entries and comment!
