At Home

It definitely has been a while since I wrote anything but what a few months.   Our dream finally came true and I'm officially a stay-at-home mom!  YEAH!!!!!

The last few months have made so many things clearer.  I was going crazy trying to find a virtual teaching position but with no luck.  It was actually kind of hard on my ego because I told two other people about the positions and they both got in and are working but I did not, couldn't even get an interview.  It really taught me to say and believe God is in control, God is in control.

While all of this was going on my piano business was exploding.  I had people asking me about piano lessons left and right.  I realized that this might be or might not be what God intended.  What I have learned though is to trust in God.  I might not have my Moses moment, in which God talks personally to me but I do know that He is in control and that what is meant to happen will happen.

Trusting in God has also lead to some other changes in my life.  We decided that we really needed to get serious about our finances and that I needed to get serious about my weight.  We started doing Dave Ramsey for our finances and Weigh Down for our weight.

Both of these things have taught me how much I tend to run to other things besides God.  When I feel upset or nervous or even when I'm happy I tend to eat or want to spend money.  It's much more than a self-control thing it's a turning to God issue.

God has blessed us with a secure income in a time when there are so many who do not have stability.  We have stopped being a servant to the lender (Proverbs 22) and are now trying to pay off our debt so that no debt remains outstanding except for love (Romans 13).  It has also been interesting to see how many people have asked me if I was sure that I wanted to leave my job as a teacher since the economy was so bad.  I would tell them that we were trusting in God but they did not feel comforted until we told them our plan.  I find that very telling because it shows how much we all need to truly believe and Trust in God and not just trust in "Our" plans.

Trust

I had no idea how much of a believer you were. We never talked about this at school. I am finding that I also need to trust and follow Thanks for a daily link to spirit.
