It's hard to believe, that LA youth camp, has "already" come and gone; once again for the year. What started the ball moving, happened Sunday, Kristin headed down from Cornville, to spend the first of the week with me before camp... it appears we started a trend, we don't see each other for a month or two, then hang out for a week straight! anyhow, back to LA camp. after all the excitement of packing the day before and on Tuesday night Lydz, Ryss and Zack headed over to the house; we played games, watched movies and listened to Adventures In Odyssey, till about 3am then a few headed to bed, (for what little rest they could snag); while the rest hit the showers and did their hair, (don't ask me why, we were about to hit the road for the next 15 hours)...
Round about 5am Wednesday morning, everyone (my parents, Cherith, Jordan, Candace, Laryssa, Kristin, Zachary, myself, Lydia and Jireh) piled into the van and headed out of town; our destination for the day, being my brother Shilohs house in San Antonio, Texas (it's anywhere from a 13 to 14 hour drive)...
The evil of comic books, and all their many devises.... Jireh, had taken along all his comic books to entertain himself with, so about 5 or 6 hours into the drive, the books get taken out and read; you have Jireh for starters, sitting there laughing his head off, at every single page, as if it's the most hilarious thing known to man; but, the icing on the cake was when Zachary started reading them... grated, for the first hour it was amusing to listen, but if you didn't know it was a guy laughing, you would NEVER of guessed... talk about a high pitched girls giggle.. lol That's when Lydz and I seriously started considering how many flying objects we had in the car! water bottles, flip flops, chip bags, even sun glasses....
We pulled into San Antonio, around 7pm'ish or so, (if my memory serves me right)... Shiloh, had made us dinner; (which btw was dilish), to which followed suet; Shiloh, Jordan, Ryss, Kristin, Zack, myself, Lydz and Jireh, heading to the River Walk in down town San Antonio... after we stuffed ourselves into Shilohs truck.... We walked around, took a few pictures; had my brother drive around the block a few times before he picked us up, so the cops wouldn't bust us for having "waaaaaay" too many ppl in the truck... Then after a unanimous vote, went to wallies-world, got vanilla ice cream and frozen fruit!
Day two, I shall entitle this, "The Warm and Fuzzy"
Camp started Thursday, so, bright and early Thursday morning we once again, hit the road! This time adding my brother Shiloh, to the mix. From San Antonio, to where the camp is in Dry Creek, LA, turned into a five hour drive... one very looong five hour drive.... and "this" segment of the drive became the notorious "warm and fuzzy" part; so ladies and gents hold onto your hats, for here comes the funny (and slightly annoying, for those of us that where "trying" to sleep) part... My eldest siblings, Shiloh and Cherith, were sitting together on the middle bench of the twelve passenger van, having a very animated discussion about finding your source of the "warm and fuzzy" feeling, and how to go about finding the one to provide it. here we all are atemping to sleep, all the while shiloh and cherith are getting louder and louder... (true quote) "Girls always tell me I have such lovely eyes".... when resorting to hitting them on the ehad with water bottles didn't work, we gave up.... all hope of sleep was dashed in the face with a bucket of cold (or rather "warm and fuzzy") water!
I ended up liking Lydia's way of explaining it much, much better......"The source of warm and fuzzy has more to do with the Texas humidity and heat, which causes ppl to grow moldy aka fuzzy"...After we were all so rudely awakened by their loud voices, it made a memorable leg of the journey.at the rate they were going, a few blackmail video's were quickly taken, then placed under lock and key, so to speck... =)
Cell service cut out, once we got within a hour of the camp grounds; Kristin and I were "sure" it was the END of the would, as we know it.. but, alas we made it through camp alive (believe it or not).. Thursday night was the first of six services, which was followed by Friday morning, camp activities, Friday night service (and the prayer line), Saturday morning service, two skits, Saturday night service, (with baptisms), and then Sunday morning sun rise service... Bro. Craig Booher took all the morning services, followed by Bro. Danny Stemen taking the evening; they did a incredible job. The Lord Jesus moved in a mighty way, changing lives, delivering ppl from spirits, and the list could go on a mile long! My the Lord richly bless Bro. Tim Pruitt and everyone else that helps make this camp happen every year. the number of lives touched and souls gained for the kingdom of God, is nothing less then a miracle!
Well this just about raps up my account of LA spring youth camp.. =) pictures will follow, once I get back home.
