Always Learning!
It was a bit of an unschooling week for us during our Christmas break. We will return to our typical schooling later this week. We are also looking forward to Co-op starting back up this week. I will be teaching a class on India this session.
A peek into our unschooling vacation week ~
ART: Building with ZOOB and decorating sugar cookies provided an artistic outlet.
MATH: Shopping with gift cards and Christmas money provided a hands on math lesson. Cooking and baking provided fractions reinforcement.
HISTORY: Jake received Age of Emipres:The Age of Kings at Christmas. Jake, Ryan and Zac have all had a blast taking turns playing it. At the library the boys checked out several books on the middle ages and knights.
SCIENCE: At the library, Daphne picked a Magic School Bus DVD about Bats and Spiders. The kids asked to watch it twice reinforcing our bat unit in Science!
LANGUAGE ARTS: Thank you notes for gifts provided handwriting, typing, spelling, and manners training. In addition the kids have been doing quite a bit of reading on various topics.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I'm glad that you have enjoyed following our adoption journey!
I haven't had alot of time to blog of late (everyone is adjusting) and I'm having a bit of a hard time getting used to all the changes here at homeschoolblogger (changes I don't really care for). I'm not sure where my future stands~ as far as blogging.
However, I've enjoyed reading some of your blog, and hope to have time to read more! I've added you to my friends list as well.
Nice to meet you!

Thanks for visiting my blog and adding me to your friends list. I've done the same. And Happy Anniversary! Try not to feel bad about using the entire gift card. After 10 years of marriage, I think you deserve a little splurge! I hope your house sells soon. Waiting is so hard. By the way, my mom's name is Daphne, a name you don't see too often but I've always thought it was pretty. Take care.

Hi! Thanks for the comment at my blog. Aren't the Zoob toys great! I've been amazed by them and so glad we got them.
I also love the video. We're reading The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe right now.
I'll add you to my friends list, too.

Those sound like great activities. I was doing a lot of unschooling with N in November and December because he was just so uncooperative. School here finished the first week of December. Right now it's summer holidays but I am working on how to keep him involved this year. It's really difficult working with kids who are five grades apart although I can adjust in some areas.
